This is my third Actifry. The first two didn't provide crispy chips and so, after a chat with a Tefal representative, I returned them. This one is much better. It gets hotter and I see red hot elements beneath the lid when I open it which I never saw on the other two. I only received it yesterday and haven't tried home made chips yet but it has already cooked tasty frozen oven chips, a great curry and a lovely stir fry, all without me watching it and worrying about burning and sticking and it's so easy to clean. I think my Aga, electric oven and combination microwave oven are all likely to become redundant. I love it!

I had read a lot of reviews about the Actifry, I have a family of 4 and many of the reviews I had read seemed to say that it was suitable for 2 to 3 people. I went ahead and purchased one, hoping that the capacity would be enough. br /I have owned this for 2 weeks now and I am pleased to say I am very happy with it. The maximum quantity of chips it cooks was just enough for 4 people (not huge portions, but enough)and being able to use Olive oil is great - one tablespoon REALLY is enough. I have not owned a deep fat fryer for years, I have instead been using oven chips up until now. The results were wonderful, good home cooked chips. I was careful to follow instruction and ensure the raw chips were dry before cooking. br /The one downfall with the Actifry is something that I had already read before buying it and that is the timer alarm, it really is very QUIET and would be difficult to hear if in another room. I personally don't find it a problem as I am normally in the kitchen when I am cooking tea. br /I have tried a few of the recipes that come with it. The cinnamon apple wedges are lovely. br /I have also cooked oven chips in it (I still had some left in the freezer) and although I will not be buying them anymore the Actifry cooked them a lot more evenly than my fan oven. br / br /The machine is SO easy to clean. The pan comes out easily and although it is dishwasher proof I think its a lot easier to wash it up, the non stick pan is great. The lid detaches with a touch of a button to clear also. br / br /I think the best thing to do with this is to try out the recipes and then find similar dishes to cook in it, eg A recipe for Chilli con carne comes with it (along with many others) so I have chosen to use it to make a Bolognaise sauce to go with Spaghetti using the Actifry. br / br /The only reason I have rated this 4 star is due to the timer alarm - I can't believe Tefal did not realise this problem! br /

I am very impressed with the tefal Actifry! It cooks food beautifully that I would normally deep fat or shallow fry, as well as many foods I would bake or grill, without drying the food out. Although it may be considered pricey for a fryer my family and friends are also amazed and impressed, so much so that they have bought one themselves.

Wonderful chips, If there are any critisism it is that the timer buzzer is faint and not very audible over the actifry when running, also it would be helpful if the timer turned it off. However sill a superb piece of cook ware. br / br /UPDATE br /I have now used for a few weeks and am still impressed however a few minor comments, For things like mince you can not leave it unatended but have to stir occasionaly (to be fair it does say this in the book) also the paddle stains easily (again in the book) however the thing to be most careful of is locking the paddle in place, you soon know if you have not as it makes about 4 times the noise and any sauce leaks through to under the pan (only did this once)

I read up a lot about this product and got very mixed opinions. However I went ahead and bought one and love it! br / br /You can cook so many things in it and they have all turned out lovely so far. There are no smells from it and it is so easy to clean. br / br /Practically all of my family have tested the food from it and everyone has been very impressed - so much so that several of them have purchased one for themselves.
