Amazing - Better than Black to black January 29, 2008 Shanghaichica (UK) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought back to black about 8 months ago and absoluetly loved that album. Prior to this I had heard all the talk about Amy's brilliance but had been quite skeptical, however even for the skeptic that I am Amy's voice is so great it demands attention. I then heard rehab and I liked that, I next heard You know i'm no good and though that's good too, finally I heard tears dry on their own and thought it was about time I bought Amy's album which I was totally blown away by. I was toying with the idea of getting frank but was worried that I wouldnt like it as it might not live up to back to black and boy was I wrong in my opinion it is even better than Black to Black and just highlights even further what a great talent Amy is and how versatile she is. The album is beautiful and I can't honestly say there is a single track on here that I dont like they are all great, however the standout tracks are, In my bed, Take the box, Sent me flying and Mr magic. Amy Winehouse is an amazing talent I cant wait for the next album.
Purely Brilliant December 8, 2007 J. Williams (London, UK) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This album has amazing depth and variety, whilst at the same time the album flows and I dont think there is a weak song on it. It is less catchy than the album Back to Black, but once you have listened to it a couple of times this becomes an advantage rather than a weakness as each song seems to have its own character and charm. If you liked Back to Black and Amy's style and you havn't bought Frank yet, I would definately recommend getting Frank. I bought both at the same time, and whilst Back to Black is also a very good album, its been Frank which has been in my CD player more.
Fabulous Amy before stardom November 5, 2007 Lee She's been around for a while, but our beautiful and talented Amy never ceases to impress with her tones and distinctive style. For all those Amy fans out there who just can't get enough - here is some early Amy - still fabulous, still amazing xxx
Most disappointing, I bought this after Back To Black September 10, 2007 Adamski (UK) 8 out of 24 found this review helpful
I like rock music mainly but I'm open to other genres if something grabs me. I was in a music store when I heard the track 'Back To Black' and my friend said it was by Amy Winehouse. I had to have it, the song was fantastic so I bought the album. Now I didn't expect any song on the album to be better than that one and they aren't BUT the other songs are still very good. I was pleased and thought I'd check out Amy's debut album Frank. Well, this bores me badly. All the songs sound the same, just nothing special at all. You'd have no idea it was the same girl who blasted out the classic songs on Back To Black. All those people who say this is comparable or even better are talking rubbish. This is a transitional album from a young girl with a fantastic voice. The songs are weak here, I'd give it a miss. Let's hope Amy follows up Back To Black with more of the same. I can't see her returning to these sort of songs now she's a superstar.
