5 out of 5 stars optoma dv11 projector   January 20, 2008

This is a awesome piece of kit ! br / br /The picture quality on the dvd is superb, much better than I expected. br /Have yet to connect a rgb scart lead to the tv , cannot imagine the picture will be as good, but what can you expect for 500. br /I project on to a magnolia colour wall and find it fine, a screen would restrict the picture size, plus I never find a screen perfectly flat. br / br /The unit is very portable and easy to set up, but you need to connect to external speakers for decent sound, I link mine through my hi fi system. br /This gives a real cinema feel, in your own home. br / br /All in all I give the DV11 a 9/10. br /

This is a fantastic projector for the price and the ease of use is excellent. I have just purchased it and have it currently projecting on a beige wall in my bedroom - it is projecting a 80 inch plus picture and is vibrant and impressive. Just need to convince the wife it can only look better on a projector screen. br / br /I cant fault it and the free subwoofer is great - Recommend anyone to buy this they wont be disappointed. br / br /PS Super fast delivery. br /

4 out of 5 stars Learn what Keystone is before you buy....   January 16, 2008

Oddly I actually returned this item, not because of the quality, but because the spec is not clear enough I feel. br /I read up, read reviews, 'Googled' everything I needed to know about projectors, screens, photo luminescent paint, and despite this unit seeming to be too good to be true, it actually is...well almost. br /Firstly why to buy; Its compact, its all-in-one fun, DVD, decent speakers (ace with the free sub) and excellent picture - even a carrycase to boot. br /So why should you not? Well, and this may not apply to everyone but, you need to work out your projection distance! I had it at just under 3m from the wall and the picture was gigantic! br /I had visions of it on the freshly plastered chimney brest in my bedroom watching Indiana Jones, but at this distance away instead of watching Indy running from a huge boulder in some tomb all I could see was his hat! A frigging 2 meter wide fedora! br /Anyway, judge your projection distances correctly, and allow for the fact that there's no horizontal keystone correction (You have to have the unit square on to the wall) and you'll be in for a treat with this little pandoras box. br /

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic System with Long Term Quality   January 9, 2008

I have an older version of this projector and it has lasted well over two years still with excellent quality and no dimming of the bulb. I have used it on average around half an hour a day for these two years. The projector comes with a fantastic carrying case which makes it very portable - this is needed as your friends and family will want you to bring it whenever you visit! I regularly use the projector on a medium blue wall with no noticable difference to the picture. The older version does however angle 'up' so the projector needs to be placed on a lower surface or 'angled down' by propping up the back if placed on a higher shelf etc. Speakers are excellent and very sufficient for home movie experience.

Bought this product from Dabs.com br / br /I am very impressed with the quality of the product. Not sure how optoma compare in the projector market, but the DV11 is awesome br / br /Picture quality is superb. I know there are higher resolution projectors available, but i have no complaints about the DV11's picture quality. DVD's pictures are clear, and bright, much better than i expected! br / br /Best results are achieved in a dark room br / br /watching the same films on the projector really makes a difference! br / br /Sound quality is very good too. The built in speakers are loud and clear. Although additional speakers would give a truer cinema feel, i think with a picture quality as good as this I will be setting up a good sound system to complement it. br / br /Also set up my PS2, and im enjoying playing old classics once again! br /yet to test the 1080i HD compatibilty with my PS3 the DV11 boasts about. br / br /if you have a budget of about 500 i would definetly recommend this projector. i find with the built in DVD player and good built in speakers it avoids having additional equipment connected, so for ease of use it definetly get 10/10! br / br /I project my DVD's onto a white wallpapered wall, and the colours are bright and clear. also set it up in my other room on a clear white sheet, which i find absorbs the colours, and reflects to much white. so i prefer a clear white wall. screens are expensive, and far too small for my liking. br / br / br / br / br /
