3 out of 5 stars Disappointed, Safety, Poor service   February 11, 2008

I received the Picture Frame for a present purchased from amazon and I have to say I am disappointed about certain aspects. My main use to view video clips from the US of my granddaughter but this has not been possible. They were taken on a standard Sony Camcorder and they produce mpeg2 video clips which cannot be viewed on this picture frame. I am also unhappy about the fact that if you switch the frame off with the hand control and thenthe main power socket is either turned off or there is a power cut, then the frame automatically switches itself back on when power to the socket is restored. We went away on holiday and came back to find it switched on, there had been a power cut whilst we were away. Surely this cannot be right, it is a basic safety issue, no warning in the booklet about this issue. Several emails to Kodak which take 2 to 3 weeks to get a reply have been of no help and they cannot suggest any solutions to these issues. I would look elsewhere for a picture frame.

Bought this as a xmas present, ran it for a couple of days to make sure it was ok and was impressed with it. br /I liked the feature where it automatically starts the slideshow when turned on from mains. br /BTW, if anyone is interested, the power usage for displaying a slideshow (no video/sound) is 6 watts (measured with a power meter)..

I made the mistake of buying a small Matsui photoframe at the same time as this and regretted it. The Kodak frame not only has no problems with jpg files but also looks the business. I intend to buy at least one 10" version after Christmas. br / br /Very good value for money. I highly recommend it.
