A great little camera January 14, 2008 E. Rudd (UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I'm really pleased with this purcahse. The camera is really compact, easy to use comes with loads of really handy settings that make a definite improvement on a basic camera. It's definately a good camera for the price. I spent alot of time comparing similar priced models and found that even though you can find some with slightly higher megapixels (that make you think it's a fantastic deal) they lack what I would consider to be basics. The zoom is often poorer and they don't work well in low light, or have the handy shake reduction settings. Another good point with this camera is the face detection setting, I find that when I'm with a group of friends and we're taking one picture of ourselves it's much easier to make sure that we're all in the picture (otherwise we regularly chop a few heads off). The ability to charge the camera via a computer, as well as a mains socket certainly has it's advantages too. One issue I would agree with is that the instructions are very poor. It should be stated that the camera has to be fully charged before the first use, all very basic instructions mention this but these fail too. If you do purchase the camera I reccomend that you do not switch it on without giving it a few hours to charge to its maximum level. The samsung programme makes it easy to upload photos a save them, but apart from that it's pretty useless, so if you like to edit your photos, even if it's only a little bit, you'd benefit from purchasing an editing programme. Also the metal case has meant that, after many times of dropping it, there isn't a scratch on it and it's working just fine, it may be small, but it's not rediulously delicate. I bought the camera on the deal that amazon offer to get a 2gb memory card with it. I'd say that was definately a good buy, obviously the cameras internal memory is virtually useless and this offer makes the memory card considerably cheaper than buying it on the high street. I have to say I was concerned about battery life, I've always used cameras with your typical AA Ni-Mh batteries. They had a long life anyway and you could always keep a stash of them handy. But I've never had a problem with the battery in this camera, the life is really good and you could always purchase a spare if needs be. All in all I'm very pleased with the results.
A Question not a review please help thanks January 11, 2008 Mr. R. Finlayson (Scotland UK) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
camera seems great from the reviews but does the lens have any sort of protection from dust or scratches? br / br /i looked at a display model of the camera in boots the other day and it seems the camera doesnt have any protective shutters that cover the lens when it is switched off, the sales associate wasnt able to tell me if it did or not, is this the case and has anyone had any problems like the one described above? br / br /thanks
Great Camera If Works OK For You December 30, 2007 Philip Niznik (London, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this from another retailer (price on Amazon is a good price), and initially I was very impressed. I basically purchased it because of the very small form factor and the good price. The automatic face recognition works very well, and the camcorder function works surprisingly well. Reasonable low light conditions and the anti-shake make for a good deal. br /However, br /my unit had a serious fault and crashed a lot (needing the battery removed). I also notice that another reviewer had to return another unit. I believe that this unit may have had manufacturing problems leading to the discounting of a camera that really should be priced higher. So, the good thing is that it will be obvious if it is good unit, and I am sure it will last, but I wonder about the quality of these units. br /Would I recommend it? Probably yes - it is a very good deal in term of price/features and a slim form factor - an ideal easy to use snapper. br /
