Great Sound so good as alarm clock October 15, 2008 P. Telfer (Newcastle upon Tyne, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this product back in June, I have too say I have been very happy with it up until now, when the display went all garbled, but amazon has instantly offered a replacement so I'm happy to recieve another. br / br /As a radio / ipod dock it works very well, it looks good and sounds good and when my ipod classic is docked I change the tracks with the remote. br / br /As an alarm clock I think it needs a little more thought for the following reasons: br / br /As mentioned in other reviews if you listen to the ipod before bed and want to wake with the radio, you can't, even though the option is there, it doesn't work. br /You also have an option to set the volume of the alarm to wake you up, but if the last time you switched it on the volume was blasting it remembers this volume level to wake you up ! this not a pleasant way to wake up ! br /On a standard alarm clock the time is nearly always displayed, where as in standby mode the display all but disppears meaning for have to press any button to activate the display to get the time, this may be a chore for insomniacs who like to glance at the clock if they happen to wake up before the alarm. br / br /That said I'm still happy with it 4months on, I'm little disspointed to need a replacement hence I only gave it 3 stars, but its worth 4 stars really.
Just about matches expectations! September 25, 2008 Craig Mcintosh (Fife, Scotland) Writing this 1 week after purchase and on the whole I am pleased with this unit. Spent weeks comparing this to the Klipsch etc, reading all reviews.... and in the end just gave up and went for this (the DAB clinched it). br / br /Pros: very high quality weight and feel to it * Sound is very good (I was maybe expecting too much from reviews) * seperate BASS and Treble controls (I ramped the Bass up as i felt it was missing at default setting) * No transformer on lead (Didnt want an ugly brick sitting on worktop next to cable - cant remember which competitor has that on theirs?) br / br /Cons: Thinking you are going to break the slide out dock when inserting the correct adaptor!!! * the increments in volume when increasing/decreasing could have been a bit closer ( being picky!) - you want the music a bit louder but next stage is too loud! * Could have done with a cover over the exposed subwoofer! speaker on rear (can see me putting finger through it when moving) br / br /All in all would recommend. Cheers!
boxy sound September 18, 2008 N. Khan (suffolk , england) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this on the strength of the reviews and I was also looking for one unit , no seperate speakers and DAB and ipod . it does all that and looks good and is easy to set up , just the sound is average and quite 'boxy'. an okay piece of kit for the spare room but certainly not what you want as your main sound system .
