I have been using Sony MDR-ED21LP Groove shaped earphones for most of a year and I have to say that the quality of sound I got from them was unbelievable. Not once did I stop to pay close attention to see if there was distortion simply because if I had, there wouldn't have been any. br / br /Having received my new Creative earphones I was expecting similar or better results and after testing them against my Sony's I have to say that the Sony's are much better. I know that some people have problems with the length of the cable, so did I, but if all you're wanting to do with your headphones is use them for an mp3 player then the length is fine. I should explain that I tested the earphones on the 30 Seconds to Mars song, Oblivion, and immediately I could hear problems at the top end. I tried listening to other songs by other bands on different albums (linkin park, fightstar, the used, funeral for a friend, attack attack etc) but the result was always the same, the crash cymbals, particularly in the chorus, were always horribly distorted. br / br /Right now however I am listening to drum and bass, namely Pendulum and the bass on the Creative headphones is simply fantastic and I can detect very little distortion in the song. This is at a comfortable listening level, however when I turn up the volume to a slightly less comfortable level the distortion kicks in and I mean a full Chuck Norris roundhouse kick to the face! The Creative's simply cannot handle it, my Sony's on the other hand can...or at least they could if they could reach below my desk to where my headphone-in socket is on my computer without me having to bend at an unbearable angle. br / br /In conclusion if you listen to rock music or heavy metal then these are definitely not the headphones for you. My advice? Spend a bit more money on the Sony MDR-ED21LP Groove shaped earphones (price at time of writing is 12.20 new from Amazon). However, if you listen to drum and bass then these headphones will be absolutely fine unless you plan to put the volume past 6 out of 10. I'd still recommend the Sony's though. br / br /An additional note for anyone who has trouble getting standard earphones (like you would get with an mp3 player) to fit in your ear properly: I have always had this problem but the Sony's have been perfect from day one and the Creative's, once you find the right sized earbuds, will stay in your ear so well you won't even notice that you have them in!

I've had 3 pairs of these now. All break in the same way after a few months. One ear gets quiet, then stops working. I don't know if it's wax buildup or whether the wires pull loose or whatever. It's a crying shame because they are fantastic value otherwise. Very deep bass, a bit lacking in the midrange but full of emotion. The sound quality is up there with phones costing 4x as much. But if they break, what use are they?

Bought these as back up for the Sennheiser CX300s I'm currently using with my Ipod. Tested them out on delivery and they're just as good if not better. Highly recommended.

I bought my first pair of these beauties while I was looking for a better standard of sound quality to compliment my Creative Zen Touch. I was at first a bit reluctant as they are the so-called "ear bud" or inner ear style, and I had doubts on how comfortable they would be. br / br /After choosing the correct sized ear bud (small - I found a snug fit here, medium - probably for the majority of people, large - if this fits you, its probably because you haven't pushed it all the way in..), they immediately gave a sound quality I had never experienced with the standard el-cheapo creative headphones. br / br /Here are the best points of these earphones: br / br /1. They are comfortable, unlike the standard shaped earphones, which always started to hurt my ears over longer periods. Plus they stay in very well, I've been jogging with them no problem and even stop feeling anything there. br / br /2. They block out a huge majority of the surrounding sounds, they aren't designed to have noise cancelling as such, but because the sound is being produced directly into your ear, they don't have to compete with other noises and the clarity stays, for example on the train or bus. br / br /3. I found that I was using a much lower volume setting on my mp3 even in noisy situations such as on a bus, which still blocks out the surrounding sounds but also means that battery life is saved as well as your ears! br / br /4. The range of frequencies and sound quality are impressive, the bass kicks in with real umph behind it (although it won't achieve the stupidly high amounts of bass some people want to drown out the rest of the music with) and mid to high range hold up perfectly. The sound quality is superb, so much so that I've noticed numerous parts of songs that I didn't know where there before! Even at loud volumes, the quality also holds up and I've never experienced any crackling like many other earphones. br / br /5. I know some reviews have been going on about poor build quality and I felt this needed to be set straight..sure they look and almost feel a bit flimsy around the earphone and cable join especially, but I had my first pair for 2 and a half years (during which time I was jogging and got hit by a motorbike, which killed my mp3 player but the earphones stayed completely intact! This incident also illustrated their sound/motorbike engine blocking!). So basically, as long as you are a bit careful with them, and don't stuff them to the bottom of your bag etc. then they WILL last. br / br /6. On a personal note, I also like that they're extremely discreet whilst being worn, handy in lectures.. br / br /7. Taking all of the above into account, the price tag on these is stupidly cheap! I bought these originally for around 15-20 and to get them for under a tenner is fantastic value, worth just buying to give a go! br / br /There are a couple bad points.. br / br /1. They are less robust than most other chunkier earphones, but againg this is fine if you take a bit more care with them (they won't break just from being used). br / br /2. I had to start making sure the cable couldn't move/rub against too much as this can amplify a rubbing sound straight into your ear, but this now isn't a problem. For this same reason its very hard to eat and listen to music, picking at straws here really! br / br /So basically, if you want cheap (!) earphones with excellent sound quality and longevity then get these, even if you don't like them in the end..its worth the tiny investment. br / br /Also just to mention that mine recently stopped playing sounds out both buds (I think the wire in the main cable has finally broken from use over the 2 and a half years) but I have already ordered a new pair and will probably continue to! br / br / br / br /
