brilliant (and a bargain!) September 18, 2008 I bought this TV 3 days ago and it arrived today. Brilliant TV - great picture and a snip for only 350 - this is the cheapest price by far I could find on the net for this great TV. And I got free P&P - even better. Based on my experience, i would advise anyone wishing to but a TV to buy it from Amazon.co.uk and not even bother looking in the shops or elsewhere on the net! (I'm not sponsored by Amazon!) If you want to know technical stuff then read the rewiew by Mr Pritchard - he seems to know what he's talking about!
HDMI Problems with Sony 26" September 10, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Having read the other reviews here on Amazon, i decided on the Sony KDL26S3000 as the best bet for a wall mounted TV in our kitchen.
The plan was to run it on the HDMI output of our SKY HD box from the lounge via a HDMI distribution system in the loft (consisting of a HDMI splitter and 4 HDMI cable runs to different rooms).
Unfortunately, the Sony could not hold down a proper picture from the HDMI cable at all.. it seemed to be continually scanning but only occasionally locking onto a picture, before losing it again.
Because i have a few other TVs (Pioneer plasma, and Toshiba LCD) to test with, i was able to isolate the problem to the Sony implementation of HDMI interface on this TV. It may well be fine on a much shorter run HDMI cable, but is definitely more fussy than some other manufacturers' technology.
It was sent straight back and i bought the Toshiba 26" lcd (Toshiba 26AV505D), which works perfectly on the same cable setup.
In terms of the Sony, it was fine for freeview (with quick channel change and nice EPG guide) but not fit for my purposes. I thought i would add this review for any buyers who are particularly interested in the HDMI input, possibly on a long cable run, or via a splitter or coupler like me.
Sony KDL26S3000 September 10, 2008 I'll keep it brief as I'm not suggesting any expertise or knowledge of the market. Firstly, we've never had a Sony TV before - we'd always stuck with JVC, but now we're converts (what had we been thinking all those years?)
As usual the package from Amazon arrived in double-quick time. It's nice to get a product that has considered minimal packaging, intelligent information and is just so straightforward to set-up.
The Bravia brand does exactly what it says on the tin. Quality, excellent interface and logical control. It links up with the Panasonic DVD perfectly (as you might guess with a sister Sony brand) The Wii console is now part of the family - our 2 year old JVC just didn't have the scarts to cope
Any issues? Just one. We now want another one for the kids play room as well. At this price we might be tempted.
Very good - with only a small gripe. September 1, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It was delivered 5 days ago (ordered on Friday and arrived the following Wednesday) and I have to say I'm pleased with every important aspect of it. Picture is the best I have ever had with any TV (although admittedly this is my first LCD TV) and it has very good sound. I love the way the picture automatically adjusts to the optimum size for any broadcast or DVD - Ive never had this before. The set it replaced was exactly 7 years old - and golly things have so moved on in that interval! The set itself looks good - I didnt want something that dominated the room (making it look as if TV is the most important thing in our lives) but was discreet and yet a nice easy size to watch. I think that 26" was a good choice for our home. My only gripes (although I knew the first before I ordered it) was (1) that among all of the many connections this set boasts, there is no USB port - and that would be so useful (showing pictures etc). OK I can show pics via the dvd player (although that doesnt have a dvd port either!)and I can connect a laptop thru the PC port, but a USB port is now such standard conection that it seems strange it isnt here (because the set design is a couple of years old I would guess) and (2) that subtitles cant be turned on and off via the handset with a dedicated button - you have to get inside the menu system to do this (which is cumbersome). But I am not sorry I bought this. It is very good, and at less than 350 delivered (Amazon) the best price I have discovered for this item.

Ordered Amazon on Friday and TV arrived next day, Sat about 11am on Express. I've had a 19in Samsung which is OK but the Sony is in a different league. I use it only as a TV and can't fault it - light, well-built, great picture and sound. Intuitive. I'm delighted with the purchase.
