Before we go into any details, I suggest you put on your protective goggles, strap in and go for the main feature. Prepare to be dazzled with sharp images and excellent sound that stay true to the original film. brAs with all Disney products there is a lot of schmaltz explaining to them selves of how great they are. In this case, I will have to agree with them. The platinum edition of "Snow White and the seven Dwarfs" makes it well worth trading in your old version or just retiring it. The two-disk edition has more information than can be absorbed in one sitting. brAmazon did a good job of defining all the DVD goodies. However I must mention a few. This takes advantage of your remote control for navigation. To help you decide you have the magic mirror as a guide through both disks and all the feature sections. The magic mirror reminds me of the morose robot in Douglas Adams' "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." brThe only negative comment I have is on the second disk as you navigate the menus do not highlight like they should and leave you guessing as to what you have selected until you press the OK button. brIf I had looked at the features first I would have found a game. "Dopey's Wild Mine Ride", that required me to go back to the feature, as I could not remember all the details it asked about. Some of the feature information is redundant. Some will require reading. One of the posters that were displayed looked like an advertisement for "Campbell's Cream of Dwarfs Soup." brThere is a Barbra Streisand version of "Some Day My Prince Will Come" which was distracting (no offence Barbra) and would have been much better left sounding like Janet McDonald. brThe printed Grimm's version of Snow White story was an eye opener. brYou know when things are not as good, exciting, or scary as you remember. Well surprise this movie is as good, as exciting as scary and many time down right hilarious.

5 out of 5 stars A classic Disney movie   May 17, 2002

Snow White and Seven Dwarfs is the premiere featured length animation released by the legendary creator Walt Disney in 1937. In those days, technology options somedays limited, but a great job has been achieved with Disney's fascination of converting fairy tales into featured length movies. It is worth to wait to espically watch in this digitally remastered DVD and relieve the magical and musical moments associated with Disney. The story is about a beautiful lady who is lost and rescued by seven dwarfs, but the evil queen develops an obsession with this beatiful lady and tries to kill her. Who will rescue her at the clutches of this evil queen with a sinister look? br / br /The DVD is digitally remastered, so sound and picture quality will be significantly improved from watching lets in the last decade or so. The extra features accompanying the superb DVD package include a warm welcoming by Disney characters and a documentary into making of the movie. br / br /If you are a fan of Disney, why not bring the magic and the cheerfulness of this animated production to your own home and experience a well known classic on DVD. Snow White and Seven Dwarfs is all round family entertainment, which Disney movies continues to contributed to the movie industry.

At last Disney gets it right. Of all the Disney DVDs I've bought my daughter, this was the first one to get it right (Dumbo the 60th anniversary edition is pretty good too).pAside from having cleaned the movie up until it looks even better than when it was originally released in 1937 (a process explored on one of the disks), this release of Snow White includes a detailed look at how the movie came into being, from initial sketches to how it was marketed via old trailers and movie posters.pI always appreciate seeing the original drawings and sketches when an animated feature is the topic of discussion. It's interesting to note how the witch changed from being a frumpy Alice in Wonderland-type character to the more svelte looking queen we know today. This image was almost duplicated by the producers of The Wizard of Oz who fortunately decided to go for a more traditional looking witch prior to shooting (but that's another DVD extra).pThe disk also explores how Snow White was technically produced. I particularly enjoyed the segment on how Disney pioneered the use of a multi-plane camera (which I now recognize whenever I watch other Disney movies for its unique quality of depth).pThe DVD also offers some fun, interactive items. My daughter loves Dopey's Wild Ride, where she has to answer questions in order to help Dopey save Snow White. pOverall, this is the best release this movie could have possibly received. I rank this DVD right up there with The Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka and Shrek for its robust and extensive complement of extras. It's nice when the extras on a DVD become almost as worthwhile as the original movie.

5 out of 5 stars excellent! my kids watched it 4 times already.   November 6, 2001

It has it's scary moments (each time my eldest 5 year old shuts her eyes when snow white ran through the woods), and it's funny moments (when the dwarfs poke their faces up at the end of the bed where snow white was sleeping). My 3 kids watched it again and again, and each time they tell me what they had missed before! Marvellous, even for the adults; and oh! what a sad, happy ending!
