Amazon.co.uk Review
Every child is naturally curious and we all know that children like to play. The IJump Ahead Toddlers/I (ages one-and-a-half to three) CD-ROM has been specifically designed and produced to capture a child's imagination and to engage their attention by providing fun activities that will stimulate their young minds, making them want to play them again and again. p Throughout, children are encouraged to learn letters and numbers, shapes and colours, learn about animals, to discover music and musical instruments, basic vocabulary, listening skills, mouse control, songs and rhymes, IT skills, hand-to-eye co-ordination and many more useful life skills. The music is bright and lively, the graphics are colourful and the whole is explicit, clear and easy to understand. The CD-ROM is easy to load and particularly helpful is a special mode to keep children from accidentally exiting the program. Help will obviously have to be given to the very young, as the program is aimed at children from 18 months to three years old, but before long, the child will want to do the activities by themselves. There is also a pamphlet that has basic information regarding installation and other technical hints and tips, which should be read before beginning. p This is one of a range entitled "Children", a range of "educational entertainment that not only keeps the little ones quiet, but teaches them essential core skills and tentatively introduces them into the realms of computing." --ISusan Naylor/I

5 out of 5 stars JUMP AHEAD TODDLERS   November 29, 2007

and JUMP AHEAD they will too! This is a gorgeous CD-Rom. We used it with our daughter from aged 12 months. She just sat on our lap and thoroughly enjoyed all there was to see, sing along and do. It has a very long life to it. It was quite some time before I realised there were other things to see within each activity if you moved the mouse and click randomly about (as a toddler would naturally do. Unlike her controlled Mum). The images are very clear and the diction of all the characters and songs is clear too. br / br /My husband was able to fiddle about with installing this so that it would go full screen which was even better. Before then I had (and this bit worked on a laptop - I'm thinking now of what another reviewer had trouble with) simply changed the screen properties before and after we played with it (right clicking on the desktop, going to 'properties' then 'settings' and then changing the screen pixels setting). This increased the size of the CD-Rom window to about 3/4 size. br / br /It's a lovely high budget CD-Rom with lots of life and is another fun, friendly and educational diversion within a toddler's (and his/her parents'!) day. br / br /Fab!

5 out of 5 stars Switching to 256 colours   September 13, 2007

This is an excellent product with great simple graphics and lovely songs and music for toddlers learning to use a mouse. br / br /For those running windows XP, this software will not run from the CD as it requires a 256 colour mode. The solution posted below regarding right clicking on the program and adjusting settings under the compatibility tab does not work as the latter only applies to installed programs on the hard drive. This software does not install - it runs from the CD. The actual fix is a 1.2 MB patch at the publisher's web site www.focusmm.co.uk/support (When at the web site, you will need the product id number which is ESS354/D). br / br /Have fun with the software - it is great fun!

havent yet received this software yet but thought I would add a comment to let you know that you can amend the settings for individual programmes in XP to allow them to run with 256 colours. br / br /To switch your display to 256 colors br / br /On your desktop or on the Start menu, right-click the game or other program that you want to run in 256 colors, and then click Properties. br / br /Click the Compatibility tab. br / br /Select the Run in 256 colors check box. br / br / br /Note br / br /* The screen will revert to your default color quality when you close the program. br / br /Full details can be found on the microsoft website.
