 Hit and miss November 18, 2008

br /The other reviews for this product seem to be hit miss it's easy to see why, because the product is also a bit hit miss. Firstly installing it was a nightmare (I am prepared to concede that a lot of this could be down to my lack of computer skills), took forever to set it up then I had so many conflict problems with my firewall other programs that I nearly gave up, but as I was really looking forward to using this software I soldiered on. br / br /Finally, when it was ready to use it did the job. I wasn't overawed by it, but it worked. I don't have a Blu-ray player so I haven't bothered trying that in fairness there are many more features that I haven't delved into yet, but in all honesty I'm not too interested in doing so. As a basic media burner it's fine but for anything more advanced I'll probably stick to using other software. br / br /

This is an all round product. So far I have only used the audio tool for creating myself a playlist cd for a wide selection of songs. For instance one can create a cd with more than 40 songs if you like. Take 2 or 3 tracks form your albums and listen to them in a limited way. br /This product offers the usual rip feature to convert cds to other compressed formats. You can copy discs, create audio books, edit song information. br /Other areas on this product is to import video directly from a camera whether a video camera or still camera. There is an advanced video option which allows more hands on directing and producing of you video. If this is too complex there is a wizard to take you through the process step by step. br /The camera facility allows you to create effects with your photos such as slideshows and panoramas. Photos can be edited and obviously imported. You can also browse and manage the photos as well. This can be very useful in this day and age of digital photos and family digital photos.

Amazon provide a lot of comprehensive information on the specification of this product and what it actually does, so I won't waste time by relisting all of its possibilities here. Suffice to say that it does everything that you would expect a middle-of-the-road media package to do, and will enable you to manage and edit your photos, music and home movies without having to shift between lots of different programs and learn the interfaces for all of them. It also does a few cool things you wouldn't expect a basic compilation package to do, such as sorting out all your files, compiling well-flowing music playlists, and various other nice bits and pieces. br / br /The installation is a bit long-winded, so set aside a decent chunk of time to do it in - this isn't a ten minute job! However, once the package is loaded on it's easy to use and a big benefit is that everyone in your family, from 7 year olds to a computer-phobic grandad should be able to figure out how to use the simpler parts of it. br / br /So, will this give you fantastic results in things like photo editing? Not really - it will give you average results which are fine if you want to do a bit of red-eye reduction, etc. If you want professional results in areas like that, you will need a dedicated package, probably Photoshop or a Corel package, but that will make a much bigger dent in your bank account. This is basically a program for people who want one product that will do everything reasonably well but not to an outstanding level. And that's fine, because that's all a lot of us need. br / br /However, I must point out, as another reviewer has done, that if you have the time and know-how to learn how to use the programs that come free with your computer and that you can download free off the net, then you can probably find a way to do all of this without buying a program like this. Buying this product is just much quicker, simpler and more self-explanatory, and that will appeal to a lot of people.

Wow! :-) br / br /I've been a Roxio software user for almost 10 years, both professionally and at home and this is the BEST I have ever used. The software and applications you get on the two DVDs that come with the Easy Media Creator 2009 Ultimate package does more or less everything yu could ever want to do with digital media and does it efficiently, brilliantly and fast. The free software that comes with the package is well worth having and already I have learned new things, new and easier ways to rip and burn, make discs, libraries, cataologue, back up and all sorts of things that I keep finding on the software. I'm going to come back in a couple of weeks and add to this review as I'm taking some time off work and want to really get to know this software and give a thorough review of it. Suffice to say, I'm impressed 1000% with it and would recommend to anyone. Great price too.
