3 out of 5 stars Pretty good, but VERY long in the tooth...   August 15, 2007

I bought this pack for my 6- and 7-year-old children, and they have very much enjoyed 'playing' with a number of the CD-ROMs. They are fairly well-designed (although some of the games tend to lead the learner to ignore the material being presented in preference for hunting prizes) and reasonably value neutral (Worst example I could find: in medieval Europe, the Christians taxed people and sent them on Crusades while the Muslims introduced architecture and philosophy). The problem is that these discs are nearly 10 years old and if I'd known that in advance I would never have bought them. The fact that the material has been republished by GSP means that the release date for the 'pack' (5 individual CD cases taped together) is somewhat misleading. br / br /But so far I can't really complain: the kids are choosing 'History Explorer' over 'Lego Star Wars', so that's a result!
