A Slightly More Fun Way to Approach Mental Arithmetic April 21, 2008 Mrs. K. A. Wheatley (Leicester, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My eight year old daughter needed some extra coaching in mental maths as they call it these days. Not being very good at it myself I was recommended this package as something that would help her. It works on the idea of converting maths problems into an alien type shoot em up closely modelled on the classic space invaders. br / br /I wouldn't say that it's my daughter's favourite thing in the world to be doing, but she enjoys it more than sitting at the table while someone fires problems at her head. After the initial grumbling she can get fairly immersed in it, and has even, on the odd occasion gotten rather competitive. I would say that her maths skills are improving, so it's doing what it says on the tin, which is surely a good thing.
