Amazon.co.uk Review Ever wonder what it would be like to be commander of one of the starships from the IStar Trek/I series? With Simon Schuster Interactive's IClassic Star Trek: Captain's Chair,/I you can find out. This program gives you a personal tour of the USS Enterprise, the USS Defiant and more. Star Trek officers narrate your virtual trip, visually enhanced by photo-realistic QuickTime graphics.p You explore five ships inside and out, panning, zooming and rotating your way through dozens of 3-D props and objects. Along the way, you can activate consoles, phasers, monitors and tricorders as if you were in command of the ship. The program features more than 1,600 linked hot spots that simulate real Starship commands. The graphic simulations of the ships are impressive, and moving your way around is easy. No doubt this is the closest experience to being on one of the Starship bridges you could have without actually being there (or on a IStar Trek/I set).p There is only one problem with this program--nothing happens. Once you've looked around the ships, there's not much else for you to do. You may be disappointed that there are no Klingons to fight and no place to beam to. Unless you are a Trekkie fascinated by every ounce of Star Trek trivia, you might fall asleep in the Captain's Chair.

Excellent while it lasts June 22, 2003 John 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Captains Chair lets players tour every inch of 5 starship bridges.br(Enterprise Original,Voyager,Enterprise-D,Enterprise-E and the Defiant).brYou can view the bridges from lots of different perspectives which gives the impression that you are actually walking around on them.brEach station on the bridges has various buttons that can be 'pressed' (clicked) which activates video clips of the ship doing that particular function (going to warp, self destruct). This makes the player feel like he really is commanding the ship and as each of the panel layouts of its station is identical to the TNG technical manual, it is official and therefore 'correct'.brHowever, once you have pressed each button a couple of times it becomes tedious and has no re-playablity value.brHaving said that, Trek fans will love it anyway.brTrek fans will love this, while non-fans will hate it.brSo, if you are a fan-GET IT NOW! This game is one of my favourites. It's suitable for trekkies and non-trekkies. It answers all of your questions from,'How do you get to the captains ready room from the bridge' to,'Where is Worf's proton torpedo button on his command console on the Enterprise?' Defanitly worth buying

What can i say this is the ultimate game for all trekkers who want to sit where the likes of kirk, picard, janeway and sisko sat. its full of information and a lot of archive material. Also you can play with the weapons or even land Voyager onto a plant. I had a great time with this game and still turn to it.
