| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review Microsoft Windows 98 has quickly become the standard operating system for the vast majority of (non-Macintosh) personal computer owners. If you're thinking about upgrading from Windows 95, or adding Windows 98 on to a multi-OS platform, you'll get a comfortable, fairly intuitive graphical user interface, with point-and-click simplicity. P The biggest (and most controversial) feature of Windows 98 is its deep Internet integration. The Internet Explorer browser bundled with Windows 98 pops up constantly, inviting you to connect to the Internet and surf the Web quickly and easily. All the plug-ins you need are supported, and for folks who don't want a high level of under-the-hood control of their OS and Internet software, the stability of the combo can't be beaten. In fact, diehard Netscape users often don't uninstall Internet Explorer from Windows 98 because the program is so deeply integrated in the OS. P Windows 98 has all the features of Windows 95, but some have been retooled, renamed, and spruced up. Perhaps the nicest improvement about Windows 98, though, is its use of a better file allocation system, enabling much more efficient use of hard drive space. Windows 98 supports the most widely used software programs, peripherals, and hardware, and it comes standard on most new PCs in the United States. IActon Lane/I

The version of Windows is by far this best operating system of all time, far better than Windows Xp.pAll the people I know use Windows 98se instead of the latter.pI use broadband to connect to the internet, the internet Explorer is easier to use.pI will always recomend this version of windows to anyone, even the beginner.
Windows 98 2nd edition a god send October 8, 2000 40 out of 56 found this review helpful
well this was the awaited update of the original win 98 which i first recieved in a beta trial but had a few teething problems,so whats in the 2nd edition well it has all the updated bug fix's that win 98 did'nt have it also uses windows media player 7 and real player as standerd internet viewing tools for all you internet junkies it still uses the fat 32 file system it just seems to have an overall smoother and more user friendly feel to it than the original win 98 so if you are using the internet and are still stuck with win 95 or win 98 first edition then yes it is worth upgrading you will definatly notice the difference. stay tuned for my windows me write up which i am hopefully upgrading to through amazon.co.uk which is for all you digital image users.
