It just works October 26, 2008 T. Clarke (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Built on the same architecture as XP, 2000 is basically just a more classic looking version. Though it's a few years out of date, new software will persist in being computable with it, and it's simplicity and administrative options are perfect as just a 'working' computer. It's very speedy and is not surprisingly still used in many, many Offices, libraries, and schools - all thanks to it's great networking solutions and slick performance. br / br /We've had Vista and it just doesn't compare - Win 2K just works!
Best Windows OS System August 20, 2005 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
i've been using 2K for over a year and it is the most reliable OS system avabile and it supports all modern graphics cards and soft ware expect for a few games which many of you should know as MS is trying to make every one change to XP. But stay with 2k until you have to change to XP
Most stable OS yet August 28, 2000 32 out of 35 found this review helpful
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional is by far the best Microsoft OS on the market. Based on the Windows NT kernel, and integrating many of the features of Win98, Win2000 is a dream to use. I am a home user, and although Windows 2000 is mainly targeted to business users, I have had no problems with it. Running alongside Office 2000, Windows 2000 is rock solid as far as stability is concerned. Compared to the windows 95/98/ME code, this OS is very stable. With the inclusion of DirectX 7.0a, modern games tend to work without a problem. I can run such games as The Sims, Grand Prix 3 and Star Wars Episode 1 Racer without any problem. All drivers included in Windows 2000 are digitally signed, so you are guaranteed to be using the best drivers around. The Internet runs very well, with IE 5.01 integrated into the OS. Windows 2000 is let down by the way it eats up resources. I would recommend nothing less than a 500 MHz processor with at least 96MB ram. Windows 2000 is not for the beginner, but advanced home users will certainly appreciate the improved stability. Forget Windows ME, Windows 2000 is the way to go!
