5 out of 5 stars Cannot fault it.   June 24, 2008

The picture, sound and build quality is matchless. The best TV in this price range I have seen.

5 out of 5 stars A very pleasant TV   June 5, 2008

To be totally honest I needed a new TV and this being my first is a great vocal point in my room. It was very easy to install and is great to view. The pictures bursts with colour and this isn't even in HD. So far I haven't bought a PS3 or a have a Sky HD box yet so I still have to wait to get the full potential of this TV. But honestly so far so good, and definitely great for the NEWER, LOWER price.
Freeview signal was easy to get just by using a conventional TV aerial, but remember to set the TV on the adequate TV settings according to your taste.
All in all Sony has adapted to the future extremely well!

4 out of 5 stars Disappointed at first but now happy   June 5, 2008

At first I was very disappointed with the picture and almost sent the set back, but eventually after setting the picture controls, mainly lowering backlight & turning live colour off, colour space to standard I got a very good picture to my liking both on SD & HD, SD does vary in quality depending on the signal but usually very good.

2 out of 5 stars Not as good as I was expecting   May 31, 2008

When our CRT broke down we bought the Sony Bravia 40" V3000, thinking we'd got a good deal... we were wrong. The picture was dreadful, the freeze frame blotchy, and really quite depressing. We took it back to the shop, thinking we'd just have to get the CRT repaired. We ended up walking away with the Samsung LE37A456, and are so pleased we did. The picture from our standard definition sky+ was crisper, clearer and generally better than we'd had before.

Having spent two days fitting up HDMI cables, gold leads and stripping our system back to basics trying to get a good picture from the Sony I wish we'd just bought the (100 cheaper) Samsung to begin with!

Superb TV, which really shows up how poor SD transmission is in the UK. HD (via Sky) is brilliant, as is input from BluRay - I didnt buy from Amazon in the end, but got a deal from Comet with Sony BluRay player
