Excellent SD, Even better HD September 2, 2008 D Browning (Wales) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After months of research I plumped for the 40ZF and cannot say I am dissapointed. The standard definition is superb (through Virgin media) with many channles appearing to be upscaled. The sound is astonishingly good considering the small speakers, indeed I was considering purchasing a seperate (Onkyo incidentally) AV reciever with 5.1 beforehand, however feel in no hurry to now. The really outstanding aespect of this TV is its High Definition capabilities which I have enjoyed testing through BBC HD, FilmFlex HD and the xbox 360. Overall thrilled with my purchase and would recommend to anyone.
The Faultless LCD TV July 7, 2008 Frank Leach (East Sussex, UK.) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Having "studied" the market for a few weeks in the early part of the year I decided that the 40ZF would be the ideal choice. I bought it at the beginning of May and have not changed my mind. On the contrary. I was wary due to the Which report last year putting Tosh in the "Don't Buy" category due to its poor standard TV picture. My 40 ZF is superb. I did have to reselect the standard TV channels as the autotune appears to go for the lowest channel number it can lock on to, in our case there are three BBC 1 and 2 channels of which the highest channel number is the best and produces an excellent picture. Is this why Which wrote it off? I have also set the picture to my preference but this is a subjective assessment. The control is there to set up any colour mix, contrast, etc to suit the most discerning. Its tech spec is the tops and its appearence is even better. Well done Toshiba! We don't receive HD yet but can't imagine it can get much better than it already is. The plan is to get the FreeSat and a 5.1 wireless sound system eventually when prices stabilise. I'm in no hurry.
Gorgeous telly with great performance July 4, 2008 Andy Hay 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Great looking LCD with performance to match. Has to be the best 40 inch LCD on the market just now. Looks loads better than the equivalent chunky Sony models. If you want a big screen but don't have lots of room this unit is roughly the same size as a 32 inch CRT(including surround). Sound is amazing considering the small size of the speakers. Worth the extra, you wont be disappointed.
Worth the money. June 20, 2008 Mrs. R. Hughson (United Kingdom.) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I purchased this television a month ago after deliberating on whether a 40" would be too big for my living room to replace the 32" I had. I have no hesitation in saying that it is not and indeed fits in nicely where the 32" television was. This perhaps could be partly due to the thin bezel on this T.V. The picture is excellent likewise the sound. With the installation of Sky H.D. the effect is similar to being in the cinema. The Freeview is easy to access and setting up the T.V. is simple (and I'm female!) Definitely a best buy.
