Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
If Season One hooked viewers by promising unpredictable story lines and a willingness to experiment outside the boundaries of genre formatting, nothing prepared us for the latter half of Season Two. Softening the blow--much like the way Box Set 1 ends--is the start here with the kooky IThing/I-like invasion of "Bad Eggs". Then with the extraordinary double act of "Surprise" and "Innocence", every aspect of the show grows up in a big hurry: the result of Buffy sleeping with Angel is a series of tragedies everyone is powerless to predict or prevent. These two episodes deservedly won an Emmy for make-up, but that says nothing of the powerful story-telling conveyed by pared-down dialogue and remarkable performances from the young cast. As Angel's character is inverted and explored, it's an acting slugfest between David Boreanaz and Sarah Michelle Gellar through to their bitter end (she later won a Saturn Award in recognition). As the pair dance between seeking out and avoiding one another, each of the secondary characters undergoes a talent-stretching transformation. For Giles it's the end to his relationship with Jenny ("Passion"), an event poisoning the motivations of everyone it affects. Willow distances herself considerably from the timid teddy bear image, taking on teaching responsibilities, witchcraft, and her lycanthropic boyfriend Oz (coincidentally, Alyson Hannigan and Seth Green were also together in IMy Stepmother Is An Alien/I). All of these threads are tied together then torn apart by the two-part finale "Becoming". So much happens in these two hours of television, but thankfully nothing seems rushed. With a cliffhanger ending to rival IThe Empire Strikes Back/I the second chapter of IBuffy The Vampire Slayer/I closes in tantalising style leaving everything at stake. --IPaul Tonks/I

As the seasons go on a little less tongue in cheek and more of what you want to see.

5 out of 5 stars Buffy Season Two (part two)   July 1, 2004

This half of the series is brilliant. There are a couple of fun but silly episodes, but these are compensated for with episodes like Passion, I Only Have Eyes For You, Becoming (parts 1 and 2), Surprise and Innocence. This series is definately worth buying if you are a Buffy fan.

5 out of 5 stars Show stopping spectacular!!   May 28, 2002

Just when you thought that Buffy was going to live happily ever after with Angel! BAM! he turns evil! Great stuff. br The meaty story lines and the hard hitting action all comes to great finaly with a fight between Buffy and Angel with Buffy deciding between saving the world, and the one she truly loves. Not to mention the episodes with Cordelia being impailed on a spike after finding out that Xander and Willow had feelings for each other.brThis box set is a must see for all Buffy fans and i have to admitt has to best footage of Angel in the entire buffy series. At his most evil and most Horny!

This is just brilliant!!! 'Becoming' had me crying every time I watched it. This is probably my favourite 'Buffy' season, it just kept you guessing what would happen next.

5 out of 5 stars Buffy at her best...   January 31, 2001

This is the Buffy action you're looking for. Episodes like Passion and Becoming made Buffy history. And we all know that, however much we like Angel's 'woe is me' bit, we know that a bad-ass un-defanged puppy Angel is more fun. Trust me, when you see the end of Becoming, Buffy will never seem the same again.
