Re: Speaker Impedance Wiring and Crossovers

This is starting to sound really interesting!
Some pix of the finished project would be very appreciated, as I too am going to build a set of speakers.
I do lack electronic knowledge; however, I am not affraid to learn, and this is very instructional to that end.

Thanks

Re: Speaker Impedance Wiring and Crossovers

Thanks for the interest! I actually just finished putting these speakers together and have watched a couple of flix on them. They sound awesome! And I think they look pretty good, too. I'll snap some more pics of them later (along with the xovers and whatnot). But for now, here are some teasers...

I followed my plan pretty much how I laid it out previously with a few minor alterations. I'll fill everybody in on the specs later and get some more pics. I was able to seal, paint, and put 1 layer of satin polyurethane down on the enclosures, but it was too cold in the garage for things to cure properly. So I had to bring them in and, well, I could resist the temptation of assembling them and listening to them as soon as it was "mostly dry"... Which led to watching a couple of movies on them (Avatar, Live Free or Die Hard, and Bourne Identity, just to name a few). So now I'm using the excuse that it's cold outside to wait for finishing coats of poly until it's warmer. There are a few runs in the finish and it needs to be sanded and finished again (maybe twice more), but we'll see. The last pic shows most of my HT setup and what I used to run for mains (big honkin' KLH towers with 15" woofers, which weren't too bad). I finished the sub just after Christmas - it's a Bazooka Audio EL12 that I had sitting around from a car stereo with a Bash 300 watt amp in ~2.5 ft^3 enclosure tuned to ~25hz. It goes low and loud, but you get some port noise at higher volumes (shoulda used a bigger port Oh well). And the TV will be upgraded in the (hopefully) near future to a 47 - 55" 1080p unit.

For now, everything sounds awesome (to me)! But I may tweak things here, soon. Hope ya'll like them!
