Couple dumb questions.

With an IB I'm assuming the amount of room gain you get, STILL is determined by the size of the room it's in, not really depending on the size of the "backwave" room - correct?

I've never seen an IB done in a small room - only in these huge rooms that are open and atleast 14*1X or 2X.

How would a small array (2 x 15's, or 2 short throw 18's) stand in a SMALL room? Say 12*11?

Re: Couple dumb questions.

I'm no IB expert but here's a few thoughts

With any subwoofer system the amount of gain it get from the room will depend on the room. The IB is no exception to this it just happens to be mounted in a different way than a conventional sub. So, in a small room you'll get a lot of gain from the sub just as you normally would and I'd think that a couple of 15's in there would be killer!

Alright - well I figured since the front wave (the one that matters?) would still be the one entering the room.. it's just the position of the sub would be fixed.. correct?

Re: Couple dumb questions.

As far as I know that is exactly correct. You would probably do some experimenting to find the best placement for your IB if that was possible before permanently mounting it in the wall.

Yes, I read an article that placing a sealed or ported sub in the proposed location of the IB sub will give a good indication of what the IB will sound like. Not all that easy if the IB is high up on a wall somewhere!

We're all in this together!

When you build your manifold cut 2 extra holes for adding more speakers at a later date and just block them off for now, You won't be sorry.

Re: Couple dumb questions.

Just for future reference... you can place a boxed sub in your main listening position and take measurements about 6" from the wall or ceiling area where you wish to place our IB system. This will give you a good estimate of how your IB will perform.
