sono sub on its side

I know this has been discussed several times before...but I never really saw a strong conclusion on this.

I know that some sonosubs need to be almost floor to ceiling in height. The calculator even tells you how much room you need to stand it up.

However if you have a sono sub that is almost 7ft long do you need to stand it up...does it need that loading from being so close to the floor and ceiling to perform the best or can you lay it on it side behind your sofa get the same massive output and not beable to locate it audibly as being right behind your couch?

Re: sono sub on its side

You can lay a tube on its side and get the same performance. Either upright or sideways, whether or not its "locatable" will depend on how the sub interacts with the room.
