what driver would be best

hi, im am new here and new to speaker building in general. my problem is, is that i currently have a 3.5 cu ft box along with an oaudio 500watt plate. what im unsure of is what sub would be best for this box. what i would mostly be using it for is movie watching. so basically what would be a good choice for a driver, a 15 or a 12? my choices are for the 15 is dayton titanic mkIII, or the Tempest-X2. for my 12 choices would be the Shiva-X2, or the titanic again in a 12. if my box is to big should i consider porting? thanks

A Tempest sealed in 3.5 cuft would be an excellent choice. Wire it for 4-ohms with your amp and you'll be cooking with gas...

Take a look at Kevin's application notes. He modeled it in 3 cuft, your performance would be similar.

Agreed. You can use the 16 hz HPF with the boost, the amp will clip before you run out of excursion.
