Inwall sub Design

Looking for ideas around (2) sub boxes or sonotubes for my new HT build. I wanted to hide them behind the screen wall and vent through the drywall under the screen. The foundation wall behin the screen juts out for the gas fireplace above so I've got an area roughly 48" wide by 18" deep and 80" high.

Unsure whether a sealed or ported unit would be best, your thoughts....

Re: Inwall sub Design

What;s the distance from the bottom of the screen to the top of the stage? What's your budget for drivers and an amp?

We're all in this together!

Re: Inwall sub Design

You have roughly 40ft³ or 1100L which depending upon the drivers and layout could have several potential designs. You could do a pseudo IB, ported, sealed or LLT. You could even fit a pair of Tapped Horns in there (for example). All except the TH's could be either mounted behind the wall direct radiating (you see the cones) or in a manifold. For the others there are a myriad of designs out there that could be adapted to your particular requirements by simply re dimensioning the enclosure to fit in your space. How far apart are the drywall studs?

Now you need to provide some more info like how much you want to spend, how loud you want to go and how deep you want them to play.
