I have an 18" sub and i want to know if it will work in a sealed box for HT

The specs are as follows:

Fs = 32.78 Hz
Re = 4.40 ohms[dc]
Qt = 0.51
Qes = 0.55
Qms = 7.55
Mms = 445.60 grams
Rms = 12.151207 kg/s
Cms = 0.000053 m/N
Vas = 117.36 liters
Sd= 1256.64 cm^2
Bl = 27.089474 Tm
ETA = 0.72 %
Lp(2.83V/1m) = 93.29 dB

I have tried it in a large ported box and i was very happy with the output, but the wife was less thrilled with the size of the box. So i went to an IB config and was not as happy.

So i am thinking i would like to build a sealed box and fire it up into my living space from the basement using the opening that i have for the IB....which is pretty large opening so it will not affect the output.

I was hoping for around 4 cuft with 1000 watts?

What was the ported box size and tuning and how much power was it getting?

Re: I have an 18" sub and i want to know if it will work in a sealed box for HT

because i am going to be doing this build under the floor and firing up into the room from the basement thru a large hole in the floor from my IB build i am really only limited by the ability of me to physically make this happen. I guess i could build a ported box and fire the woofer and port "into the IB baffle". But i for sure want to do this only once and do it right. The IB thing was an impulse decision and a fail.

Sealed will have a lot less output compared to your ported which I assume was tuned around 22 hz.

What was the issue with the IB?

On some audio it sounded as if it was making strange noises that sounded mechanical in nature, and not at even loud volumes.

So as to protect the driver, i thought sealed would be a better option.
