TechShield Ext'd Warranty from One Call

On the surface the TechShield extended warranty looks very promising. Good response to emails and they also were quick to provide me with a copy of their legal contract. It's a 5 year plan (4 + Mfr year = 5) and includes one lamp replacement. 12,000+ ASCs plus if there's not one of their participating shops in your area they will attempt to work with whoever is nearest (and qualified, i/e/, Mfr certified).

TechShield is underwritten by AIG. That's the good (very good) news.

The bad news, like a couple others, we found out that it is only offered to One Call customers. If you did not purchase your TV from OneCall then the TechShield warranty is not available to you. I find that unfortunate because I really had them listed as a strong contender for my EW $. Bummer.

12,000 ASCs is . There are likely not more than that many shops left in the US any more. I'll post some queries on the tech lists and forums and see what the shops know about them.

Probably moot Leonard. Since they only offer their warranty plan to their own TV sales customers, it's not otherwise available to the general public. I've removed them from those under consideration, in spite of otherwise good communications.
