Help with uploading photos

I have been trying to upload some photos to this site and it tells me that its an improper size or mime type. They are conventional jpgs resized so that the longest side is 800 pixels.
Can someone help me? I've searched for a help section or a section explaining any limitations to the users gallery and found nothing.
They started out as 25.6MB pixel files but that shouldn't matter.

Re: Help with uploading photos

What resolutions are they because if they are 300dpi then they are likely to be too big. Any 1000 pixel RGB jpeg which is 72dpi should be fine.

What's the actual file size? For that resolution - should just be a megabyte or so.

Re: Help with uploading photos

I changed the bit depth from 16 to 8 and then it worked. I had selected 16 forgetting this was jpegs which poorly support 16 bit. I hate jpeg but for this use its a necessary evil. I never shoot jpeg, only Raw, with my camera so I have to convert them.

Re: Help with uploading photos

yeh 16 bit will defo make it too big and I understand you using RAW images but once converted to 8 bit and in jpg format you should be fine. Also when you open the RAW image you get options as to what size to open the image in. I would just choose a small file size.

I am having similar issues. I use the HTS app on an iPhone 4 and am trying to upload photos from my phone. It keeps telling me that the >800 kb exceeds the 200 kb limit? Is there a simple fix or do
I have to go through my computer to upload them??

Re: Help with uploading photos

If you have taken the pictures on your iphone then set it to a smaller size say 2 or 3 mega pixel, that should fix that issue then.

Otherwise you will have to use your computer to do it.
