Ceiling Speaker forum?

Having reached research burnout on every component, brand, speaker and configuration, I still have ceiling speakers to decide on. Combing the forums for specific ceiling speaker considerations is hit or miss, and I thought to myself, wouldn't it be nice if there was a ceiling speaker forum? With Atmos and other formats increasing in popularity I feel there are enough specific considerations to ceiling speakers to warrant their own forum.

Would it be difficult to add Ceiling Speakers amongst the Speakers and Subwoofer forums with the following stickies? I'm a novice, but I can seed the stickies and maintain them if you wish.

Vaulted Ceiling installations. (To answer questions on angled hardware, placement, EQ height concerns, etc.)
To back box or not?
Installation considerations, do's and don'ts.
Surface vs Cutout.
Others?

So, part of the reason we dont have a dedicated topic about in ceiling/in wall speakers is simply because we dont recommend them in general. They are much more expensive to get the same quality of a normal bookshelf/tower speaker. Placement is not flexible and usually not ideal.
Even with Atmos now being pushed the issue is that DTS X is also around the corner and they do not recommend in ceiling speakers for DTSx. Too much up in the air at the moment and many of us are sitting on the fence as to what will be the best in home format.

I used JBL 8320 speakers for my Atmos channels... I had some brackets made that made them parallel to the ceiling.

Well, gentlemen, you may have done me a solid, pulling me back from the ledge and saving me some holes. It so happens my room has beams in the ceiling that would make for ready made mounting and wiring spots. Now I just have to find the appropriate speakers and I can position them at will.

If I did it would have been blown already. :spend: That said, the four highs should be $400 or less each.

The rest of the speakers are Chane A5 fronts, A2 center, and four A1 surround/rears, and a pair of Rythmik L22 subs. The Rythmik FV15HP is just too big to have two to position in my space.

I have some more questions regarding rears placement and the new highs angle, so I'm going to move this over to the Speakers forums. Thanks so much.

Edit: You know, would it be all that bad if I just continued the Chane theme and used four A1s as the highs? The main concern I have is aesthetics and mounting location/angle.

Sure, that would match everything else :T

Nice speaker choice by the way

The Golden Ear Invisia series is very highly regarded, though not cheap. Worth a look...
