Excessive Ads?

1 Attachment(s)
I just wanted to suggest that you guys get with your IT Director and try to eliminate the excessive level of ads. On any given site, AdBlock always picks up 4 to 6 ads on every webpage. That's normal. Sites that depend on ads to fund their work usually have upwards of 20 to 30 ads. That's normal.

Attached is a picture of my adblock count from hometheatershack.com. (Click here if image does not show)

I think 87 is a bit over the top, don't you? Maybe you could look into this for the sake of the good people who help contribute information and conversation to this site. Should they really have to weed out that many ads?

just a suggestion,
Sincerely,
Jeff

Re: Excessive Ads?

Hey Jeff, many of these so call adds that Add blocker is tracking are from our forum sponsors. They are very small banners located at the top and bottom of each page and are not at all intrusive. Without the sponsers we would not be talking here nor would we have the great giveaways and information that HTS has to offer :)

I don't block the ad's at all & hardly notice them. I expect our sponsors to use the banner. Many times I click on it to see what they have...kinda handy to have on the site. I really like the fact that our sponsors are carefully screened to be upstanding companies. I find them to be over the top & glad to have them. Just my thoughts. :)

I understand all that, as I'm sure you read in my first paragraph.
Thank you.

I have not found the ads to be bothersome either.
There are no pop ups and the ads are always in the same locations with the bulk being at the bottom of the page where you don't have to even view them if you don't want to.

Re: Excessive Ads?

I can go days without even noticing the ads. I have learned to tune them out unless I am looking for something, then I am happy to look at what our sponsors have.

As for being excessive, I have no apologies. If we were not so successful at bringing in ad revenue, we could not do all of the reviews and giveaways. It is not like the owners have been getting rich off of it. Most of the income goes back into the forum in the form of upgraded service technically, and giveaways. No way we could do a $10K system giveaway and so many others without advertising.

in my opinion, the ads on this site actually are the ads that adware inside our computers isert. the site is free of extra ads itself. You mat be infected with adware like wander burst http://nabzsoftware.com/types-of-threats/wander-burst
