Let's launch this thing with a big sale.

Several years ago I designed a product line for AV123 called the X-Series products. It was a whole line of products geared towards being the best bang for the buck in the industry. It all started with a little speaker that I called "KD".

You see, during initial development of a product there comes a point where I am measuring and testing it. At that point I have to save the measurements and group them into a file folder. It is there that a speaker gets its first name even if it is a temporary one. It is just something that I call it during development. When I took the measurements of this little speaker I knew this one was going to be a real over achiever. This speaker was going to beat up on a lot of speakers that were much more expensive than it was going to be sold for, without a doubt. It was going to be a giant killer. And the greatest of all giant killers was David. Yes, the David that killed Goliath. This little speaker is the King David. So that was what the file group was called for this speaker. It was "KD" for King David.

The real name later given was the X-LS. The X-LS was sold through AV123 as a bit of a loss leader and set a new benchmark for performance in the budget price range.

These were reviewed by Audioholics, Affordable Audio, Home Theater and High Fidelity, GoodSound, Tone Audio, Consumer Guide, Prillaman.net, and several others. They received two Product of the Year awards, Best Buy award, Budget Speaker of the Year award, and seems like there might have been one or two more that I can't remember. An upgrade for that model offered by the Skiing Ninja was also reviewed by Tone Audio.

Fast forward a few years now. AV123 closed the doors leaving a ton of inventory with the actual manufacturers of the product. It all then found its way to me. And now I am blowing them out as kits. I marked them down really low to move them fast. But now I am going to run them on sale even lower as an introductory offer to the good folks here at the Home Theater Shack.

I am marking these kits down to $99.

That is $99 for everything you need to build out a pair of them.

You get the woofers, tweeters, fully assembled crossovers, ports, binding post cups, high quality OFC wire (In polyethylene), solder, heat shrink, screws, and cabinet plans. And you get all of my support!

$99 a pair through the rest of the month of August.

How is that for a deal?

And if you already own some X-LS's or other X-Series products then let's see some pics.

They're a bit deep for my needs, but that looks like one heckuva kit you put together. And for a seriously good price too.

My goodness, Danny, that is one great deal. I think I may just grab a kit now and stow it away for when I finished my HT room - I will need another project! Thanks!!

Sure I am being dense, but I cannot seem to locate them on the site. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction?

They are not listed on my site yet.

See this thread for how I ended up with these: http://www.hometheatershack.com/foru...kit-deals.html

Saw that thread - thanks for the link Danny. If I am interested in getting one of those kits, how are you handling ordering for those?

I think he's referring to the depth of the cabinet: I would be more concerned with the rear-firing port as it would require some space behind it to sound best. Danny, approximately how much rear distance for these to sound 'best'?

On another topic: will any discount kits be available that include a planar or ribbon tweeter, or open backed upper end large bookshelf or floor-stander?

Just call GR Research to order: 940-592-3400

These can be used in a sealed box of the same air space. We ported them just to get a little more low end out of them. Being in a small ported box also bumps up the bottom end just a tad before it drops. An optimal ported box for that woofer is a small floor stander. And a small floor standing version was released under the name X-SLS.

I was indeed. I'm in the market for some smallish satellite/bookshelf speakers with a matching center. In my particular case, 10"-12" is too deep though. I'm also watching that other GR Research thread, the one with a multitude of different satellites and MTM designs. If something there is a bit more diminutive I'll be looking into it.
