Onkyo Receivers

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and would like to say thanks for your help. I have viewed and read alot of the posts on the site but, I need some advice on the purchase of a receiver. First let me tell you about my future Home theater Room - house currently being built.

The room is 24' long and 15' 5" width and has nine foot ceilings. The room is an open design and can be seen from the bar area that is adjacent to it. The projector will be Panasonic AE4000U. The speakers are in wall and in ceiling speakers. Speakers are Polk (4) LC265I (left&right front & left&right rear) (1) LCI-RTS-C (Center) (2) LCI-RTS 100 (Ceiling Surround)

Receivers that I am trying to decide between are Onkyo TX-SR876 and Onkyo TX-SR806. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Onkyo Receivers

Hi Dean, Both receivers are excellent VFM with lots of features but I would personally look at the 876 as it has more power than the 806 does, Audyssey Room EQ is also very good and sorts out any possible room problems that you might have, you cannot go wrong with either but like I said I would go for the 876 as it is the better AVR of the 2.

Re: Onkyo Receivers

The 876 also has a far superior video processor as it uses the Reon HQV chip and is regarded to be the best.

Panasonic PT-AE8000 on a 120" 2,35:1 fixed screen

Welcome to the forum from a new member myself. Be sure to check accessories4less.com for their aggressive pricing on Onkyo receivers, new and refurbs regardless of which model you ultimately choose.

Good luck,

Re: Onkyo Receivers

Thanks again for the responses. I will probably go with the Onkyo 876.

Question - will the Onkyo 876 have any problems with the Polk 4 ohm speakers that I will be using?

No, if you go into the settings of the amp, just change it to IIRC 4/6ohms setting, it has plenty of power to drive most speakers.
