Re: Receiver Help

for what you pay they really dont offer much compared to Onkyo,, Pioneer, Denon or Yamaha. They just dont have a big following.

Home theater:
Onkyo 805, Yamaha YDP2006EQ, Samson Servo 600 amp
3 EV Sentry 500 monitors across the front, 4 Mission 762i's Surrounds, SVS PB13U sub, Panasonic BDT220, Harmony 1100, Nintendo WiiU
Panasonic PT-AE8000 on a 120" 2,35:1 fixed screen

Living room system:
Sherwood/Newcastle R972, Mission 765's, SVS SBS02's, A/D/S MS3u sub, Yamaha YDG2030EQ
Yamaha KX-393 Tape deck, CDC 805 CD changer, Panasonic BD60, Sony turntable PS-T20
Panasonic TC-P50ST60, HD-PVR & WDTV Live, Harmony 900

I have a Onkyo 906 referb. from A4L and love it. I have not had a single problem and the sound front the amp is awesome. After two years I am still very happy with my purchase of the onkyo and getting it form A4L.

Count me as being a happy Onkyo 809 owner though I did purchase new so I can't vouch for A4L. I do value and trust the opinions of the members of this forum so if they say it's ok then I'm sure you'd be just fine going that route.

It sounds like the 709 is highly regarded. Just one last question. Has anyone had experience with the Pioneer 1121?

Re: Receiver Help

The Pioneer lineup has gotten great reviews in the past but the the Pioneer 1121 did very poorly in the benchtest that it was subjected to. It did only about 50watts per ch all channels driven (very very poor results) and not a good choice.

What is the difference between the Onkyo 709 and the Onkyo HT-RC370?

I had the pioneer 1121 for about a week. The center channel would not work and the wife did not like the look of it. So I returned it and for a little more got the 809 Plus I like the idea of the 709 and 809 have 2HDMI out. one for the tv and maybe one for a projector some day.

709 110 watts, HDMI 8 in 2 out plus has a few more inputs.
RC370 100 watts, HDMI 7 in 1 out
