Questions about setting up my new home theater system..

So i am going with a projector screen for my man cave. I am set on purchasing the epson 2045 projector. It has 2 hdmi input/output and 1 usb. i am also purchasing a samsung blu ray home theater system. i also have my direct tv satellite box. The blu ray sound system/cable will be the only devices i am connecting to the system. Is my thought process right in that i can connect a separate HDMI chord to the back of the Blu Ray/cable and connect each to the the back of the projector to get both cable and surround sound working ? Or will i need to buy an A/V receiver and connect the cable/sound to the a/v which then connects to the projector? Because the projector has 2 HDMI input/outputs i feel as if i can do without the A/V receiver

Also, if i purchased a wireless transmitter, can i do all this without running 15ft hdmi cables to the back of the projector? essentially, i would connect the blu ray/cable to the transmitter and then just connect the wireless transmitter to the back of the projector?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated

Well you can run the HDMI to your PJ for the picture but will you run a separate Spdif cable to your processor or receiver to get the audio? You don't intend to use the speaker in your PJ do you?

Re: help

HDMI needs to go to the audio receiver first then to the projector. Is your bluray player part of a Home theater in a box system? How will you get sound?

Home theater:
Onkyo 805, Yamaha YDP2006EQ, Samson Servo 600 amp
3 EV Sentry 500 monitors across the front, 4 Mission 762i's Surrounds, SVS PB13U sub, Panasonic BDT220, Harmony 1100, Nintendo WiiU
Panasonic PT-AE8000 on a 120" 2,35:1 fixed screen

Living room system:
Sherwood/Newcastle R972, Mission 765's, SVS SBS02's, A/D/S MS3u sub, Yamaha YDG2030EQ
Yamaha KX-393 Tape deck, CDC 805 CD changer, Panasonic BD60, Sony turntable PS-T20
Panasonic TC-P50ST60, HD-PVR & WDTV Live, Harmony 900

Most HTiBs (HomeTheater in a Box) have an optical or SPDIF input or an HDMI in on the back. In addition to their HDMI out, that goes to the projector.

You're connection chain will go one of two ways:

Cable/Sat box to HTiB via HDMI then HDMI from the HTiB to the projector.

Or

Cable/sat box to projector via HDMI then optical/SPDIF to the HTiB and HDMI from the HTiB to the projector.

---

If you haven't already purchased the HTiB I'd highly suggest you look into getting a starter system from Yamaha, Denon, or Onkyo. They include speakers, a subwoofer, and a conventional AVR (Audio Video Receiver). You'd then get a normal bluray player and connect it and your cable/sat to the AVR via HDMI and connect the AVR to the projector. You'll typically get better performance and be able to upgrade/change out parts without scrapping the whole system.

Welcome to the Shack!

Re: help

Yes, the blu ray player itself acts as the receiver. So you are saying hook the hdmi from the cable box to the blu ray and then an hdmi from the blu ray to the pj?
