What's the best AT type and make of screen?

Hey all,

I am going to replace the screen material in my motorized screen. I have been looking at acoustically transparent screen material from Elite and Seymour, but I don't know much about which kind of AT screen is best. Does anyone here have any insight as to the visual, auditory, and price performances of these brands(or others)? I'm looking for the best bang for the buck.

Re: What's the best AT type and make of screen?

Had samples of many different AT screens to test out.................Stewart 130, 150 all microperfed. At 12 ft, I could see the hole structure which validated what others had told me through pm. So I eliminated Stewart products.

Looked at dalite material, Seymour XD, SE 4k and others..............

Final decision was based on color uniformity, and the ability NOT to see fabric patterns at 12.5 ft for first row seating. Brightness was not a critical issue since almost all AT screens with exception of the Stewarts are negative gain.

I purchased Seymour-Screen Excellence 4K material.............granted, the material is not as bright as others, but I have a projector with enough light to offset those concerns. After 6 months of using screen, I'm happy with material and have no issues at all with seeing fabric structure.

On another note, very little HF loss..........I measured close to -2 db's which was handled with eq.

Best AT..............depends on needs and application. With larger screens and a semi-light cannon.........the Seymour-SE 4K screen is exceptional!!!

Re: What's the best AT type and make of screen?

The new screens from Falcon screens are suppose to be really good too, they are also a little bit cheaper then XD material screens from SeymourAV also. I have screen samples from Seymour of both the XD material and Excellence 4K material, I also have a 2'x2' sample of Elunevision's reference 4k weave material too.

Honestly I preferred the Elunevision screen over the XD material as far as color uniformity went and contrast but thought that the XD material was brighter. I could notice the weave in the XD screen a lot closer then the Elunevision also. In general I thought the Elunevision was a better screen but not at the price difference between the two.

The Excellence material was also nice and having no weave would be great, but the image was a lot more dim then all of the other screen materials that I sampled.

I'm a fan of EluneVision, I don't like perforations. EluneVision has a weave that is very tight, and does not roll off on very high frequencies.
