Magnavox 42MF337b

I have a Magnavox 42MF337b tv. When I went to power it on last night the fuse blew. I replaced the fuse today and it blew again. Can someone please tell me how to start troubleshooting the problem?

Re: Magnavox 42MF337b

Welcome to the forum...

I did a quick search and it appears there is a problem with the fuses blowing for bad caps. I tried to find out more but the page wouldn't load.

Here is a link to one that is on this forum... http://www.hometheatershack.com/foru...ir-thread.html

Re: Magnavox 42MF337b

Thank you, Ron. I saw that post thread/trail, and the first post said that visually, the TO-247 MOSFET Q901 was bad. I visually checked both boards, and did not see anything unusual. Reading the subsequent responses, it seemed like capacitors were checked and okay, but the zener diodes were bad. I did not readily see where there was a process for checking the parts. I have a multimeter, but no other equipment. Would like to troubleshoot myself. Not sure if I can check the parts on the board, but would like that to be the first step. I thought I saw another post that had a process for checking the MOSFETs, but could not find it again.

Check the semiconductors in the power supply for a short.

Looking for me, just google my username. I have used the same one for most sites for many years.
