Exclamation Philips 51PP9303H/17 Problem

Hello, i am new here, and i`ve been reading a lot and i got to know that you guys know a lot about this things, so i decided to ask for your help.

I have a problem with my Philips 51PP9303H/17, the red color is distorted or not working properly, i`ve been told that it`s a convergence problem, but i want to confirm this information.

I`ll add 2 images so you can see the problem.

Thanks a lot !

Re: Philips 51PP9303H/17 Problem

Please read the first ten posts of the convergence repair sticky in the DIY Repair forum VERY carefully.

http://www.hometheatershack.com/foru...e-repairs.html

You have two common problems in these sets. The convergence issue described in detail in the posts noted above and contaminated coolant in the CRTs. The red coolant is likely fine, but the green and blue get a contamination that causes defocus, diffusion, and lower transmission. To repair these is tricky because the convergence is affected by the coolant problems as well as the bad ICs and likely resistors. I suggest making sure that you have the documentation on how to do the convergence and making sure that you understand how it works before attempting. It is not very intuitive.

Looking for me, just google my username. I have used the same one for most sites for many years.

Re: Philips 51PP9303H/17 Problem

ok, i have read those posts and i think my problem could be the STK 392-110 that i could replace with the STK 392-110, 120 or 150, but first i should check the resistors and stuff around, if ok, then replace.
First i`ll try to get these parts here where i live... it`s gonna be quite difficult.

Thank you very!, i`ll keep you posted.

If you don't change the coolant and don't clearly understand how to do service level convergence you will not get very good results. There is a lot more to these repairs than changing chips and resistors.

Re: Philips 51PP9303H/17 Problem

I understand, i will check the coolant first in the blue and green lens and last the red one.
i think the coolant is called "Etilenglicol" or (ethylene glycol) in english, am i right ?
Once i changed it in those lens, i will upload some pictures for you to see the results.

One question: how much coolant is it necessary to fill one lens ?

Thanks!

Re: Philips 51PP9303H/17 Problem

ok, i have some news for you, i adjusted some screws and the lens, cleaned some parts and the image got a lot better, no distortion... just some problems with divergence and the blue color that looks cloudy.

I think that this points more toward the coolant change.

what do you say ?
