Re: 2 X 11 cu ft Q18 slot ported subs build

I have applied some filters to the Audyssey sub only measurement and this is about the best I can get it at the moment which will do until Sunday. Its not bad but it may smoothen out with two subs.

The second graph is sub and speakers with Audyssey and EQ Bfd filters.

cheers

Graham

Audyssey after BFD Graham.

Looks a good response though, although I reckon you can get another 2% on that

Re: 2 X 11 cu ft Q18 slot ported subs build

Dan,

Thats how I did it on the sealed sub but I thought you said it is best to run Audyssey first then BFD to fine tune.

Here is a graph to show the different speaker crossovers from 80hz to 50hz. What in your opinion is the best 80hz is first then 70 and so on. Sub is crossed over at 80hz.

Last one is all together.

cheers

Wow. That's a pretty flat response Graham. Bet you can't wait till you get the second one finished

Re: 2 X 11 cu ft Q18 slot ported subs build

Dylan,

I did the bfd after Audyssey which I will do it the other way around because I can get a much flatter response that way around. To get that response I only used 5 filters.

Yum Yum. I can wait.

I am going to get a few blu rays to test over the next couple of weeks.

cheers

Graham, really impressed to see the result, which you were aiming for. You came long way, since your first build. All I've to say everything is better, gained a lot of experience in several areas.

Well done mate

Re: 2 X 11 cu ft Q18 slot ported subs build

Suniil,

Thanks mate. I have nearly finished the second one. I just need to cut the hole for the speaker plate, do the wiring, fit the egg crate foam and put on the side and fit the driver and light her up.

I have to say this has been an enjoyable journey whilst building both the sealed and ported subs. Having listened to some more music it defo sounds quite a bit cleaner than the sealed sub I had and with alot more low end. God knows what the neighbour is going to think when both are on.

Once both subs are done I will have to wait a little while to get the reckhorn b2 until I get some more funds. I've pretty much spent quite a bit on both projects so its time to let the other half spend some money. I am hoping still to get the sub in the house tomorrow afternoon and if I do I will post some new graphs up on Monday night when the missus goes to work.

cheers

Re: 2 X 11 cu ft Q18 slot ported subs build

Guys,

Second sub is now finished and I will be bringing it indoors in about an hours time when my neighbour has finished his lunch. I am pretty excited now I have to say. I will upload a couple of pics to show where I have positioned them.

I did notice that with the sub at an angle, although it gave a better graph it didn't sound as bassy as having it facing the front left speaker so I have left it there for the time being. My other half did comment that she thought it sounded alot cleaner than the sealed sub we had.

cheers

Re: 2 X 11 cu ft Q18 slot ported subs build

The sub is now in its place. Here are some pics to show where they are. I have to say there is quite a noticable difference in the amount of bass. Its chalk and cheese to one sub. Playing bassotronics on -32db on the onkyo and you really could feel the low bits so goodness knows what it would be like at -20db.

I need to re EQ etc... but first impressions is that the bass is more defined and deeper and sounds more effortless. Graphs should tell the full story though.

Just to veneer now and the journeys over for now.

cheers
