"you better you better you bet..."

10 points if you guess which British band sang those words almost 35 years ago!

When you lived through that period you know who sang it.

Even if you didn't and enjoy just plain old good music, you also know.

Sligthly off topic but: we just purchased a B-stock screen from Chris Seymour. 2.35/1 "XD" Acoustic transparant with 2 add-on masking panels for 16/9 duties. Fixed 130" wide... It even has a black backing.

I guess the oversees package will arrive in about a week. Way sooner than we need it, but it is a bargain and it is the exact width I designed. We love a very wide screen for that immersive feeling, we always try to sit in the center of the front half in the cinema.

The LLT's will stand behind it, flanking a large custom center speaker.

Must have been 12-13 years old.... That's when Fischer-Z makes a big and lasting impact!

OT: Marantz is introducing the AV8801 11.2 pre-pro. At last! Better be good at 3,000 euros!

Re: Erwin's 550 Liter LLT / 13 Hz / Maelström 18"

And Emotiva now has the XPR-5 for sale! 5 x 400 Watt, I can't think of another 5-channel amp with such figures. I don't need it with 95dB speakers, but I still want one! I am thinking of getting one and add two XPA-3 for Height/Width/BackSurrounds. My idea until now was to was to get one XPA-1 for the less effcient center (needs 2.5 x the power of the other main speakers) and two XPA-5 for the rest. Moneywise the mix with XPR-5 is not much more expensive.

http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/.../products/xpr5

Gain is no longer the tipical high 32 dB, but 29 dB.

I took the occasion to do another tweaking to the design of the space. The better half's accounting business is going nicely and she has summoned me to make this room even more multipurpose than it already was designed. It has to be possible to give a power point presentation (, look at that screen honey!) and also if workload is high, temporary workforce is going to need a few desks to work. Enter more network cables etc. I removed the big table and replaced by three desks (6' x 2.5') that can be moved together to make a conference / dinner table or so.

And oh yeah: I swapped the on-ceiling back surrounds for proper towers that can be positioned nicely between the desks! Add two positions for extra subs 3 and 4 (maybe, one day)

BTW, we already have the AT screen from Seymour. He had a B-stock on sale in exactly the size I designed. Couldn't resist!

This is a very nice build out, any update on it?

Only to the building: we did the fibrecement + padoek cladding of the east wall. And I made the interial wall structure between Homecinema and sauna. I also prefabricated the wall structure between Homecinema and entrance, but that's still on my truck, maybe I will go Sunday to put it into place.

The black on the low part of the wall indicates about the height of the floor. That's one foot! The black is 1mm EPDM which is about 3 feet wide: 1' under the wall studs; 1' taped to the inside of the wall for air-sealing; 1' glued to the outside of the wall (visible in part in the pic of the cladding) to prevent water from the soil entering the structure.

View to the south.

Plus I did some more research on acoustics. Will do a floated concrete floor in the HT and build a box-in-box with double gypsum and Green Glue in between. Use a thick absorbant ceiling that performs wel into the low mids.

This is an inspiring build!
You're a fortunate man, Erwin.
Stunning looking new home with some
very nice views. And a wife that's tolerant of
the extreme approach you're taking to the HT.
For the same price, I could probably outfit an
800 square foot apartment in an older part of town.

Best wishes for a smooth build, & I'm looking forward to
your well-documented updates.
