?REW bug-must restart REW for input sound to register

Hi all

Curious if anyone has had the same problem? When I started using REW v5 for the first time and was setting up the input/output levels and calibrating my SPL meter, I found that the input from REW would show up on the input meters/SPL meters after I had initially opened the program but would not work a second time. If I then closed and re-opened REW the input meters worked again.

For example when calibrating my SPL meter, I could press on the unlit red button on the REW SPL meter to start seeing input from my outboard SPL (Radio Shack 33-4050). Once having done this though I could not calibrate as when it came time for the REW SPL to recienve input in the calibration step, nothing registered. If I then closed and re-opened the program and did not press the unlit red button on the REW SPL, I could go through the calibration steps no problem.

Anyone else seen this, any ideas??

Are there any error messages in the REW log files? Their location is shown in the About... box.

Hello sorry was away longer that expected.

I checked my log files. I get an severe error warning on some log files but I think it's due to my clock settings being for august, 2004. When my date/time are correct I seem to get no error files. I cut and pasted two versions below: (there are no errors on any log files with the right dates)

Today I am sure the date time are correct. However, I still get the problem of when I open up the SPL meter, I can use the meter once (I press the square button at the lower right with the red indicator light in it) and it works. The second time I press it the red light goes on but there is nothing registering on ther input meter, and the third time I press it the light won't go on. If I close the program and restart it, the cycle repeats. The same type of problem occurred when calibrating the sound card, the inputs would register initially, but didn't on second attempts , but worked fine if the program was restarted.

Also my first log file won't open (roomeq_wizard0.log), it says it is being used by another program?? Should I reinstall the program?

Richard

Re: ?REW bug-must restart REW for input sound to register

It is nothing to do with your date and time settings. Your soundcard's driver appears not to release the record line when REW closes it after making a measurement, when REW tries to reopen it for another measurement the response is that there is no input available, hence the logged error. You may find the ASIO driver behaves better, there should be a version of REW supporting ASIO around the end of the month.

Re: ?REW bug-must restart REW for input sound to register

That's great John, I think I might be using Asio drivers, I chose that option in my recording software (where it really improved latency/speed issues in recording), so I'd be happy for that.

I'll be trying to figure out what I'm doing in the meantime, been reading lots threads trying to get some answers before I ask you guys too much stuff. Starting to come together, (I think).

Thanks for all.
