Calibrating soundcard....what's going wrong?

Hello,

about one year ago I worked with REW and everything was perfect but now I can't even get the start right....

When I go to preferences and start to calibrate the soundcard the beginning is fine: sound level output around -6dB, I looped the right in/output, and I trimmed the soundcard so that there's a -6dB as well, perfect.

But when I ask REW to calibrate the soundcard, the start is fine: it starts to make a sweep, all witin the right volume-levels but then I got an error from REW that there's a too much difference between in - and outpunt level.

If I have a look at the graph it looks like this:

as you can see, from 600Hz the distortion begins. With a lot of distortion at higher freq's.

What's wrong?

As a test I played some normal music with the soundcard and that sounded ok. So I doubt if the soundcard is defect (as it sounds ok with normal music and 1 year ago I used the same soundcard ans it worked fine)

Some info about the used stuff:

Soundcard: Behringer USB UCA202
loopbackcables: various, all the same resilt
REW 5.01 Beta7 build 2299

Thank you in advance,

Try changing the REW sample rate, it may be a result of resampling in the OS. May also be worth checking what the input format is set to on the line in properties in Windows.

Re: Calibrating soundcard....what's going wrong?

Hello John,

There were 2 variables : the sample freq in REW and the input sample freq in Win7.

I tried the following:

REW / input
1) 48k / 48k
2) 44.1k / 48k
3) 48k / 44.1k
4) 44.1k / 44.1k

1) REW48k input48k --> error from REW

2) REW44.1k input48k --> almost good but still an error from REW

3) REW48k input44.1k --> error from REW

4) REW44.1k input44.1k --> YES!!!!!

As you can see there's a little "wobbling" at the end of the freq spectrum as I did not make a calibration file yet but at least REW now does not give an error and i can proceed with it.

Dear John, again, a big thank you for helping me out (yep....again....)!
