Soundcard Calibration/Results?

Hello all - I'm still confused with the sound card calibration and my measurement results. In order to calibrate my sound card- I ran the Sound card calibration and set the OUT and LEFT meter's to match at -10. Saved this calibration and set it as the Soundcard Calib file.

The results were :

Then I ran a full sweep: (results in green, shown with or without smoothing)

Prior to using the Soundcard Calibration file the speaker measurements were:

As you can see, there is a huge difference between the results with and without the sound card calibration file.

My questions are as follows:

1) Is the Soundcard Calibration required?
2) Did I perform the Soundcard calibration correctly?
3) Do my measurement results (before and after the calibration) look ok?
4) What about my Microphone calibration results?

Something's wrong with EF9wR. 49|1k looks more believable. What do you have for a soundcard?

Since you used EF9wR for your measurement, no, it doesn't look right.
(And note how the smoothing makes it look passable. Don't use smoothing when looking for problems.)

Your mic cal file looks okay, but where did you get it?

Re: Soundcard Calibration/Results?

That 'soundcard calibration' is a measurement of the room, not the soundcard. Do not use it. For a soundcard calibration the output of the soundcard is connected to the input of the soundcard, there is no mic or SPL meter connection. Look at the examples in the REW soundcard calibration help to see what a soundcard calibration result should look like.

Got it! That makes sense. I'm using the USB Dual Pre card and generated the mic file incorrectly.
