My first test - comments welcome

Hi there,
I just bought the USB MiniDSP UMIK-1 that has calibration file.
I read the sticky indicating left dB axis should be 45 to 105 dB but i had to turn PC volume and Integra DHC-80.3 volume up to get rid of a Check Volume warning. So there is a peak at 126 dB.
Let me know if i'm doing something wrong with the volume.

Pics of room are in my gallery.
It is perfectly rectangular:
Length: 28.5 ft
Width : 22.2 ft
Height: 8.0 ft

for a total of 5062 cubic feet.

Carpet on floor. No room treatments.
System is along long wall but not perfectly centered - it is about 6 feet off center - see pics in my gallery.
The rear of the front speakers are 24" from wall and the speakers are quite deep.

Prepro is Integra DHC-80.3 with XT32.

xo from my dual JL Audio Fathom f113 subs to B&W 802 Diamond fronts is at 80 Hz.

The PC input on Integra was set to Audyssey Movie curve.
Dynamic Eq is ON and Dynamic Volume is OFF.

I did a close pattern for the 8 XT32 points because for now i just care about the MLP.
All subsequent 7 points were within 18" of the first MLP point.

The pink line is no Audyssey ("Direct" with 80 Hz xo) and the green line is with Audyssey XT32 ("Stereo" with 80 Hz xo).

Any comments welcome (i am a novice).

thanks !

Re: My first test - comments welcome

Is 126 dB peak unusual? Did i damage my subs or speakers?
I had a RCA cable going from my Windows 7 laptop headphone jack to RCA inputs for PC on Integra.
I then set PC volume to max and adjusted Integra volume to get rid of level warning when doing sweep.
Integra master volume is at -17 or so when warning disappeared.
I thought room was quiet but laptop was 4 ft from mic and laptop fan is quite loud.

thanks

Re: My first test - comments welcome

Couple of comments. Normally you should turn off Audyssey DEQ when doing your measurements. Th peak that displays in Direct mode seems to be handled by the Audyssey calibration. Frequency response around the crossover between subs and mains looks a little uneven, which could be improved by applying the "sub distance tweak".

I assume the graph is with no smoothing. I also assume this is a measurement of left+right+subs, with mains set to "small" and a crossover of 80Hz, is that correct? Did you also do a full sweep, 15-20,000Hz?

Re: My first test - comments welcome

ok - i will do another run with Dyn Eq off.
I will read about "sub distance tweak" - not familiar with it - can you point to URL etc?
There is no smoothing.
Yes - this is with front left and right speakers (BW 802 Diamond) and front left sub and front right sub - see pics.
Yes - front speakers to to small with 80 Hz xo.
This test was to 500 Hz (uploaded pic is to 200 Hz per the sticky) but i can definitely do a full sweep for you.
Just let me know what kind of graphs you want to see or if you want raw data.

thanks !!
