Problem with Samsung HT-D5500

Hello everyone!

This is my first time posting on these forums, merry christmas for everyone!

A month ago my Samsung HT-D5500 Home Theater console started in a random way to automatically press the "enter" button which in the control is the one in the center around the up,down, left, right buttons.

I went to the Samsung website and I chatted with a technician which told me to do the folllowing:

1. Hard reset the console
2. Disconnect for a few hours and reconnect
3. Try to do a hard reset using the control

I did all of this and I still have the same problem. The thing is that this equipment is less than 3 years old, is out of warranty since Samsung offers only 1 year and I'm unable to use it because every time I turn it on, start automatically pressing the "enter" button in a random way making for me impossible to watch or do anything with the console.

Any suggestions?

Re: Problem with Samsung HT-D5500

Hey,
Welcome to HTS..., I am sorry you are not getting much help. Sometimes people look mostly for what they are familiar with when picking a question/post to answer.

I am having a difficult time understanding you description, so let me ask you a few questions first off

1. is the enter button also the power button?
2. the enter button you are using, is it on a hand held remote control unit or on the D5500 unit front controls?
3. is the power cord in perfect condition and plugged in tightly at both ends?
4. do you see any messages lit-up on the front panel of the D5500

After downloading your Owners Manual I see - Looks like the remote works everything..., do you have confidence enough to take the remote apart - clean the inside of the remote with a damp cloth only (not wet/just damp-allow time for parts to dry before reassembly).

If none of these questions help with a solution - you can download and update your drivers thru the LAN connection on the rear panel.

Keep us informed about any progress or new questions

Oh..., make sure the remote batteries are in top condition. Sometimes even new batteries have low voltage problems.

One more thought - try a different remote or a new remote. But first remove the batteries from the old remote

But most of all..., have some fun

We believe everything we tell ourselves..., don't we??
