Dual 15" Dayton Ultimax build

Hello

After having read a lot of good things about the ultimax woofers i have decided to build a pair of by own.

You can see my current home cinema setup here:

http://www.hometheatershack.com/foru...tml#post968641

My room is about 13 square meters and i plan to put them behind my screen wall in front and at 1/3 wall length

The subs and amp:

19mm MDF cabinet 550x670x478 millimeters (approx 136liters) in closed cabinet
2 x 15" Dayton Ultimax units
1 x iNuke 3000 DSP with fan mod and heat sinks

This is the first time i try to build a speaker myself so if you have any comments or advice then i will gladly take it.

Here goes :-)

Really love the look of those cones.

I was about to say the same thing. Consider this a +1. Very cool looking cone.

Re: Dual 15" Dayton Ultimax build

Nice build, good idea to brace those cabinets like that. Hope you live in a free-standing house....

If you find the walls of your cabs moving [and I think you will], you could add a second layer of wood with a half-inch space between the outside of your current cabs and fill with sand. Remember to do so at the spot you want to have them sitting.... it's going to be heavy.

If you leave the top of that space removable, you can always put the cab on it's side, pour out the sand and move th cabs.
I guarantee that you will notice the difference in sound to be less vibrations and more output. Did the same simple thing years ago with stunning results.

Good luck and have fun building!

Double walled and filled with sand sounds a little drastic! That bracing looks sufficient, to me. :-)

While it may seem drastic it is always nice to see others try different construction techniques.
