Re: Sealed test enclosure

No, haven't been able to spend any time here for awhile now. Thanks for the info! Looking forward to how it works out. I've been 'chomping at the bit' for quite awhile now to build some of my various tapped designs, not to mention move forward with my HT, but a ~ whole house restoration has both me and my pension stretched pretty thin for many moons yet.

Re: Sealed test enclosure

I just met a guy last night that has a single XXX18 in a 20 cubic foot ported enclosure paired up with 3 Klipschorns for the front speakers. I need to set up a time to check out his setup. It should be extremely impressive.

different volumes by adding material and to have a control enclosure for testing drivers.
What material do you use to fill the enclosure for volume changes?

Where does the XXX 18 keep the 54mm xmax? That is linear right, not just p2p?

I am kinda bummed that the more mature HT crowd isn't into speaker vids like the car guys, especially since all they like is ridiculous heavy motored subs under gobs of power with "low" tunings of 30-35Hz watching their cars flex, not realizing they are losing their precious deebeez by not reinforcing their vehicles to trap it all inside

I'll likely use wood blocks if I ever get around to it.

I don't have a video camera that captures a good video without blurring and I also don't have much time to edit the vids.

I know you've seen some of the youtube ones I put up of the free-air type.

Re: Sealed test enclosure

Update.

Subs in their current placement. I've only done limited REW investigation but my current response is not good. Huge 46hz peak and it riiiiings. I'm not surprised since the subs and listening position are both nearly exactly half way along the wall of the rooms longest dimension. Hopefully moving the foutan forward a bit and adding subs 3 and 4 to their locations will help smooth things out. Massive work is still needed on the room as well. New furnishings, area rugs and something is needed on the walls. Hopefully that will all help as well. I don't know what to do about the floor shake. It is fun, but almost too much and it will likely smear my measurements if I can't figure out a way to decouple the microphone from the stand and floor.

BTW. The output level is dumb already with just 2. It's plenty. 3 and 4 will just add more headroom and smooth out the response I guess. Oh well.
