Here is an '09 LMS driver. Only available up to 12" sizes so far though.

I recently noticed the new drivers as well. They do not appear to be a 5400 or LMS Ultra replacement. Perhaps a lower-end line using the same LMS technology. I noticed the BL product is significantly lower.

Not quite the driver that I was talking about.

I agree that they do not appear to be replacements per say. More drivers with LMS is a good thing though.

BL in and of itself is not one thing to be overly concerned with however. It is one spec of an entire system that is the sub. If the moving mass was lowered the BL product can be lessened as well.

man I wish that I would have bought a 5400 when they were still available. Currently have a Maelstrom build and a Avalanch 18. I hear rumors that TC may make a comeback hopefully this is true.
I was lucky to get my order for the LMS into TC Sounds and get an acknowledgement. While I was waiting for delivery of mine there were other guys that had ordered theirs before I did and hadn't received theirs according to the promised delivery date. It was touch and go for a while. My LMS was delivered on time with only minor damage to the cardboard box.
The Avalanche and Maelstrom drivers are among the best currently available IF you can get one or find one.
I think if Thilo were thinking about a remake of the LMS and a remarketing plan, he'd have a better DIY market than the first time around. We're all finally are aware of it's capabilities. However the DIY market is NOT going to pay twice and certainly not three times the price of a Maelstrom X or an equivalent Avalanche. Am I wrong?

You are certainly right, at least speaking for myself. By the way, how do those subwoofers compare next to the LMS? Is there any test made around maybe by IKKA?

Best Regards

I'm still jealous of you guys who managed to get ahold of an LMS or an Avalanche. What incredible drivers.

Phil, are you still thinking about trying this monster ported, or would you keep it sealed? I've always wanted to eventually end up with a wicked sealed 18 like yours, that has the clean "tight" sound (or whatever you want to call it) of a sealed enclosure, but the sheer power to reach right down to the lowest octaves and still rattle your teeth.

I'm satisfied with the LMS in a sealed box but I have this (wall) . . . .

[IMG][/IMG]

in my listening area begging for a chance to be used for a ported sub. I checked the 2x4 construction of the wall last year and I could make a large ported enclosure for the LMS in the available space. I'd sure like to try the LMS ported in the wall with a 10" port. I'm holding a 10" saw blade where I think the port might be.

That's great but did you think how are you going to open that door afterwards?
By the way that thing hanging on the wall looks very nice!

Phil, i'm happy to see you like your sub, it makes the efforts here worth while.

yes, TC sounds is making a return, Thilo and i have been quietly working on new production and products. We did go through a major overhaul of the products for the 09 built. Currently the designs are finalized and we're in the prototype / sample phase with various venders. The pieces will not be built in san diego anymore. We're having a larger, more capable build house overseas run the production. Obviously quality will be a chief priority for us. The 09 LMS Ultra 18" has been one of the drivers that undertook some major changes.
