Thanks John!

By the way, under OS X (I've tested 10.9.3) b21 no longer requires the user to make changes in System Preferences > Security & Privacy. Just single click on the REW icon, select...

Re: Impulse response representation in REW

Yes. "Normalize" window is what I'd like to see. Makes sense?

Ah, nice! Guess it helps to read the documentation from time to time :) Option + right mouse on Mac. You know Mac users need every...

Re: Impulse response representation in REW

I'm aware of that but I missed the pull-down menu for whatever reason.

By the way, would it be possible to have the window automatically scale to the highest value of the impulse response?...

Re: Impulse response representation in REW

Yes, that solved it. Thanks John.
I don't remember seeing that option yesterday. Could that be a Java bug under OS X 10.7? I'll keep an eye on it.

Impulse response representation in REW

Is there a reason why the impulse response in REW looks the way it does and not something like this?

Re: Room analysis before more treatments

Mike, here's a good read with more up to date information from someone that definitely has the credentials you're looking for: "Sound Reproduction" by Floyd Toole.

Good luck with your home theater...

Re: Room analysis before more treatments

I disagree on most things you've said about "aestics" and "goals/objectives" so it's probably more constructive to concentrate on the graphs you've posted. Are those graphs smoothed? Please switch it...

Re: Room analysis before more treatments

Mike, when looking at your pictures, your seating seems to prevent sitting in the main listening position? Please don't get me wrong but this is like driving a Porsche 911 on a dirt road. You really...

Re: Can't get REW5 for Mac inputs to work

Graph doesn't look like an internal mic. Simple check is to have the meters window open and tap on the mic opening with a finger. Does the meter move?

Re: Can't get REW5 for Mac inputs to work

Did you check that the iMac's built-in microphone didn't pick up the sound? What are your settings in "Audio MIDI Setup"?

Re: Can't get REW5 for Mac inputs to work

Porous absorbers work at locations where there is sound particle velocity. Sound particle velocity at the surface of a wall is zero (maximum pressure). It has its maximum at 1/4 of the wavelength....

Mike,

It would be much more effective to arrange the corner blocks like this:

Re: Can't get REW5 for Mac inputs to work

Can't get it to work on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.6 either. Output works but can't switch from "Buit-In Microphone" to ""Buit-In Input" (which is the line in). Never worked in v4 either.

Re: The astounding new AS-EQ1 SubEQ goes on sale!

Yes, that's correct. At low frequencies we want to measure the steady state response of all loudspeakers playing at once because that is what we hear.

Yes and the frequency response of all low...

Re: The astounding new AS-EQ1 SubEQ goes on sale!

Modal peaks often have a very high Q (that's why low frequency measurements need to be high resolution - typical 1/3 octave is not enough). One needs to have some experience and measuring equipment...

Re: The astounding new AS-EQ1 SubEQ goes on sale!

Hi Brian

Did I suggest otherwise? It's obvious that an EQ has to be applied in the signal path somewhere before amplification. The only drawback with equipment like the SVS might be the additional...

Re: The astounding new AS-EQ1 SubEQ goes on sale!

Thanks. Just had a quick look at the waterfalls. They look very good. But the initial situation did not look bad either. How is the room constructed?

Did you make sure that the measuring signal...
