Re: Plugging Sono ports - 700l Q18

Thanks for the reply Steve. I value your opinion (plus you are the guilty party for my building such overkill subs ). The way I have my setup, moving things around is pretty much out of...

Re: Plugging Sono ports - 700l Q18

I learned of doing this on here (in the REW area I believe), so the credit to fooling audyssey goes to someone else and more info can be easily found.

I didn't expect the results I got from...

Re: Plugging Sono ports - 700l Q18

Thanks Blaster. You are right and I am very happy. I do use a steeper house curve. I probably should have shown this graph. Look at the response below 10hz. Though I am not sure how accurate the...

Plugging Sono ports - 700l Q18

I have 2 700 liter sono subs using Fi Q18's and an EP2500. Detailed more in the Fi forum. In my fight (or quest) to get audyssey to play nice, I tried plugging the ports by wrapping beach towels...

Re: Sonosub Build, wife is going to be really happy!

WinISD gave me the following graph for 750watts.

12950

My in room response at my seating location resulted in this graph. No EQing with BFD, but maybe audyssey, I can't remember.

Re: Sonosub Build, wife is going to be really happy!

Where's the other one? :devil::hide:

Not sure if this will help, but I have a lot of room gain around the 10Hz area. I can't remember if I have any graphs posted here, but I will try and get some...

Re: Fool Audyssey?

Yes I did try it and with good results. I just haven't had the time to get things orginized to post things here. I also recently changed furniture and re-did audyssey and that opened up another can...

Re: Fool Audyssey?

I thought I might need something that would seal better than a towel. But with nothing to loose I tried it. Check out this graph.

Obviously blue line is with the towels in the ports.

Re: Fool Audyssey?

That is an excellent idea. :ponder: I was just trying to figure out how to impliment a highpass filter around 20Hz or re-tune my eclosure for running audyssey as a test to see if it would give me...

Re: Ficar Q18

You send me the equipment and I will measure one of them for you.

I asked the question when I was trying to finalize my enclosure dimensions. Here is the response I got.

I...

Re: Fool Audyssey?

You know, I have always been in the mind that Audyssey wouldn't work right or equilize correctly if the sub was not in the mix to begin with, but maybe that is not the case :ponder:. I too have a...

Re: Fool Audyssey?

Wouldn't that be great? I believe I read in the Audyssey thread on the AVS forum that the mic and calibration is part of their "secret formula", and they or Denon would not make it...

Re: Q18 Dual Sono Build

Thanks man! I read through your entire:whew: "Lord of Bass" thread along my way. Lots of great info :reading: and a little fun:whistling:.

There seems to be a lot of Sonosub builds, but not very...

Re: Question about "reference" calibration.

Wouldn't your volume level/AVR output versus "reference" level depend on how effecient your speakers are?

Re: Q18 Dual Sono Build

Ya I did the fan mod in the EP2500. I wanted to make sure it worked before swapping in the quieter fan, and it only took one day. (I already had ordered and recieved the fan). With the placement...

Re: Fool Audyssey?

So last night I did some experimenting. I moved my REW mic all around the room to possibly find better spots for Audyssey to measure. As I have learned here, only a few feet can make quite a...

Re: Fool Audyssey?

I would go along with you on the negative effects of 2 EQ's in a row. In an effort to minimize the effects, I think it is better to have the BFD running in the system even if the filters are minimal...

Re: Fool Audyssey???????

That is more or less what I originally attempted. I think the problem lies in my peak between 10-15Hz that I cannot flatten with the BFD. Who would have guessed that Audyssey would even recognize...

Re: Fool Audyssey???????

I am pretty sure that Audyssey needs to see a sub of some sort in order to work properly. I actually wish I had never re-run Audyssey after taking out my orig Klipsch sub and adding my new ones. I...

Re: Fool Audyssey???????

Ya, I guess that is what I did in the previous post here. It just seems like there should be a better way. I had the sub amp turned down what appears to be about 6dB before running Audyssey. Then...

Re: Fool Audyssey???????

Well, I decided that I would try and let Audyssey have a go at it without any filters applied. I did turn down the sub amp some to try and keep the my peaks around my target line.

Here is...

Fool Audyssey?

I have just finished up a sub build and have more deep bass than ever before:bigsmile:. Problem is when I re-ran the Audyssey program on my Denon 3808 it kills my deep bass.

Do you guys have any...

Re: Q18 Dual Sono Build

I can't say that I recall hearing or feeling bass like this anywhere, even in the theater (but I don't get out much). It just seems like it's effortless. Even in music where there isn't a lot of...
