Re: Noob building a sub with RSS390HF-4

Hi guys, just an update, below is the in-room response of the Tuba HT in my TV room, after I applied some EQ to smooth things out. It sounds pretty good, adequate for my movie-watching needs! We...

Re: Noob building a sub with RSS390HF-4

Ooo I take it that would be a good choice for an LLT?

My TV room is approx. 325 square feet, about 2925 cubic feet, but 2 sides of the room are open to the rest of the house. My AVR is an Onkyo...

Re: Noob building a sub with RSS390HF-4

Eventually I do want to build an LLT, but with a more suitable driver (my understanding is I will want something with more xmax and higher power handling right?)

Can anyone make any suggestions as...

Re: Noob building a sub with RSS390HF-4

I've been getting busier lately, so I think what I'll do is try the Tuba for a while, and maybe later build an LLT with a more optimal driver (or drivers). It would seem the driver I have isn't...

Re: Noob building a sub with RSS390HF-4

Hi all, another question for you, I'd really appreciate your advice.

There is a local guy who is selling a Bill Fitzmaurice Tuba HT. I have read good things about this subwoofer, particularly...

Re: Noob building a sub with RSS390HF-4

Thanks so much for advice, so it looks like with 3 ports i would get around 9 cubic ft net volume or about 10 cubic ft. with just 2 ports.

However, those numbers are based on my original plan to...

Re: Noob building a sub with RSS390HF-4

Thanks for the info guys, WoodHammer, what did you use to calculate the net volume accounting for ports and material thickness and such?

Re: Noob building a sub with RSS390HF-4

I've been doing more reading, I'm really trying to learn as much as I can but I could use some advice LOL..

Regarding ports... Is there a rule of thumb about what the maximum port velocity should...

Noob building a sub with RSS390HF-4

Hi all,

I need to build a subwoofer for my TV room. I'm new to this so I have a few questions. I have built a car subwoofer in the past but it was a simple sealed wedge-shaped enclosure, about...

Re: Behringer iNuke NU1000 Amp Amplifier Fan Swap How To w/ PICS

Has anyone come up with a solution to automatically power on / off this amp with the receiver?

My receiver it turns out doesn't have a switched AC socket or a remote trigger (it has a trigger...

Re: Behringer iNuke NU1000 Amp Amplifier Fan Swap How To w/ PICS

Hmm I wonder if you bent the existing copper "heatsinks" so they point straight up, and then thermal epoxied these to the top of each chip, if it would help enough to eliminate the fan?

Re: Behringer iNuke NU1000 Amp Amplifier Fan Swap How To w/ PICS

Hey that's cool that you can run it with no fan!! That is encouraging.

It does seem to me like the fan speed might not actually be temperature-based, but maybe it's current based or something? ...

Re: Behringer iNuke NU1000 Amp Amplifier Fan Swap How To w/ PICS

OK here are the pics, I did warn you the cuts were a little sloppy LOL... I was in a hurry, and frankly I don't care that much how the top of my subwoofer amp looks (it's hidden in my setup). This...

Re: PLease Help what receiver should I buy??

I recently bought a refurbished Onkyo TX-NR709, I've been happy with it, running it with the Polk Monitor 70's. It has pre-outs so you can go active should you ever wish to. Yes they have a higher...
