Re: REW Newbie looking for some help

Is the valley for one channel or all of them together? If it is a major null (suck out due to room acoustics), no amount of eq is going to change it.

Re: First time with REW - too much low end

I don't think many mics are accurate that low. It also depends on what ported subs you are using and what their tuning frequency is. You get some room gain but I doubt that much at those low...

Re: First time with REW - too much low end

First, read the following:

http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/rew-forum/934-please-read-posting-graph.html

Second, try just measuring front left and right with subs. Not all 7 channels.

Re: How to generate EQ curve from one measurment to match another ?

Interesting suggestion. May need to revisit some of my filters and try this technique. Thanks Phillips.

Re: How to generate EQ curve from one measurment to match another ?

Interesting stuff this acoustic stuff is. I wonder if listening distance also plays a part. I would guess your listening position was further back from the speakers? I sit very close (basically 60"...

Re: How to generate EQ curve from one measurment to match another ?

Wayne,

Can you expand on the "wacky things"? I currently go to 800 Hz and have not heard anything "wacky". Or maybe I have missed it.

Re: Speaker Curves

Or make your own based on your ears and room following Wayne's suggestions in these threads:

Re: RossoDiamante Theater REW Measurements

Why did you choose to do a baffle wall? Just curious. Here is a picture of a friend's theater where they did a false screen wall. Not the best picture but I think you get the idea.

Re: RossoDiamante Theater REW Measurements

My guess is both. Subs plus the left main compared to subs plus right main as individuals. But then you want to compare (overlay results graphs) the center to the left and right main to make sure...

Re: REW - first graphs - thoughts?

Looks much better. Probably more realistic of how it sounds too? Now you can start playing with phase and crossover points to try to improve the 50-150Hz. range. Then you can use the SB13-Ultra...

Re: RossoDiamante Theater REW Measurements

That's what I figured. Maybe something following the "red" target might work. Again, depends on how it sounds to you. Maybe try playing the various frequencies and see what spl level get them to...

Re: RossoDiamante Theater REW Measurements

I wouldn't say a flatter curve is the goal. Keep in mind, the goal is what sounds best to you and a good looking graph second. Have you ever read Wayne's threads about house curves? This is usually...

Re: RossoDiamante Theater REW Measurements

Maybe the bare concrete floor or the bare wood stage? I am sure these measurements are going to change as you get the walls and floor finished. The furnishings you add will also play a part.

Re: RossoDiamante Theater REW Measurements

Correct, you are altering one of the reflection points that interact with the front speakers. Looks good though. :T

Re: RossoDiamante Theater REW Measurements

There is still a benefit to looking at individual channels in isolation. When your room is getting closer to being finished and you start adding acoustical treatments, things like the impulse graph...

Re: RossoDiamante Theater REW Measurements

I would start researching impulse responses. There are some good threads on here about using them to help fine tune multiple subs. Here is the basic help file thread.

Re: Room sounds/looks TERRIBLE!!

I am just wondering if you are getting reflections off the desk that are causing problems. Just curious if you pushed the speakers back a little and moved the desk what would happen. Keep in mind,...

Re: Room sounds/looks TERRIBLE!!

Looks like you are "light" on bass and real heavy between 100-300 Hz (from the desk?) which could be the cause of your sound problems. If you can, based on your supplied graph, try to get everything...

Re: RossoDiamante Theater REW Measurements

17 and 35 Hz would require some very big absorbers or one tuned to those frequencies. Tuned absorbers don't always work correctly.

You may want to start looking at if the subs are time aligned...

Re: measurement at listening position. Help analyze the graph

You also seem to have peaks at 325 and 550 Hz. These might be making the 100 Hz peak not sound bad. The rest of the frequency band seems to be tracking about 70dB. Have you read and thought about...

Re: Room correction at the source computer or at a separate equalizer?

If you have no other external sources (i.e. cd, vinyl, etc.) I would think at the computer would be best. Fewer connections and you can easily adjust 20-20k Hz. You have to be careful which eq you...
